What sort of things do you have already?

Given all the bad press recently about the knock-on effect of inadequate basic nurse training, I find threads like this a tad worrying.

I see no problem in helping anyone with interview techniques (how to present yourself, body language etc) but as to the raw materials (nursing knowledge) shouldn't someone who is eligible to apply for the role of Deputy Ward Sister be able to present this information quite easily?

What happens when the OP gets the position then has to think on her feet (and quickly).....does she then come here to ask what she should do?

My point is.....if a nurse feels she doesn't have the confidence and knowledge to put together a 10 minute presentation on a subject related to the position she's applying for, then maybe she's not ready for that position.

Not sure, I often use as many resources as I can when applying for jobs, I talk to people about the presentation and what they would think about with it and personally I don't see anything wrong with asking for ideas here. I am not talking about actually asking people to do the presentation for you but ideas shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Anyway, to the OP Clinical leadership is quite a biggie at the moment, it's worth having a look at the RCN clinical leadership stuff there would be lots of information in there.

Also have a look at the foundation of nursing leadership, theres quite a bit in there as well

First you would need to identify what type of leader you would consider yourself to be, there are tests in the above link.

Identify the resources that you have, what staff you have available, skill mix etc etc, then how you can help to manage these.

There should be stuff about motivation and stress management in there (occupational stress is another big NHS thingy at the moment)

Looking at influencing change, promoting evidence based practice, engaging your workforce and patient

That kind of stuff

I'm interviewing soon, I may well use this for presentations for my interviews ;)

i only asked for some tips and ideas, thank you very much for u r reply

i am doing management in class right now, google any of your keywords and you will be amazed at what is written about it all. good luck with your interview.
