Prescription fish oil? You have got to be kidding me!

I thought this was a joke or some rouge gimmick company in an infomercial, but I just googled this and learned it's a real "drug" made by GlaskoSmithKline. This is "purified" fish oil that GSK claims lowers "very high cholesterol". I have fish oil in my refrigerator. This is what our drug companies are spending money on? We wonder why health care is in such shambles? We haven't found a cure for HIV in over 30 years but don't worry folks, we've created some nice purified fish oil for you!

that is called acne inversa...also hydradenitis superativa

Reading up on that, it sounds semi similar to what I have but not exactly what I have. I have had a few cut out. (I don't have great insurance right now so I have a couple that I have just dealt with. They are mostly blood filled though. and when they flare up it will be a purplish color. I don't remember what the Dr. had called them when I had one cut out years ago in another state. The Dr wants me to go in when I have a flare up again to better identify these new ones I have been getting here. Once I get better insurance I will. For now they are painful when they act up, but they have been under control pretty good lately so it hasn't been too bad.

Sorry didn't mean to derail the subject! :p

Ugh. Don't get me started. I had a pt the other night who was admitted for severe constipation (from narcs) who was uninsured. Complained of a rotten tooth and needed 2mg of IV dilaudid for this reason. Um nope, sorry that's not what we're treating you for. Explained that she couldn't get her tooth fixed because she didn't have dental insurance either but I noticed she had a fresh set of airbrushed acrylics.

Trying to give the patient the benefit of the doubt here, maybe she had a dental phobia that kept her away and money was just an excuse.

But if money is the issue, acrylic nails are not cheap, and nice teeth add to one's appearance even more than nice nails. Priorities, I guess.

We have similar medical histories, LOL! Only I had the hysterectomy (due to prolapse) last year and the acne has been an issue since I was----oh----about your age! :D (On the other hand, long-term use of Retin-A has been very good for my skin. In the long run, a tube maybe costs me about $10 a month----I use Renova now because generic Retin-A is too drying----and it's been worth it for me. I am not sure I could justify spending $100 a month on something cosmetic, though, especially if the results go away when you stop using the product.)

Actually, one former friend once told me that she was glad she had thick lashes and not short, thin ones like mine. Although that was not the reason we stopped speaking, it was a rather unnecessary put-down. Isn't that just incredibly rude? (Makes me want to get a scrip for Lat---oh, never mind.)

Wow, I am a pretty honest and blunt person, but that is one of those things that didn't need to be said even if she did think that. Completely tactless! Looks like we have had a similar hx. My acne started after I had kids (that doesn't say much since I had one at 16) but I would say got worse in my mid to late 20's, I had my hysterectomy right before I turned 29.
