Hey everyone,

I applied for PIH's new grad program for march. They are supposed to start interviewing this week. For those who applied, has anyone received a call?

I've applied to each time they post the NGP, and I've never gotten a phone call. :(

Good luck!

Congrats!! How was the interview? When did they interview you? I never heard anything from them. I am desperate old (new) grad RN. Tell us about your success story! You have a master degree?

i am a new grad. graduated in may w/ my bsn, passed nclex in october. i was desperately searching for a job for about 2 months before i landed an interview with them. i still feel like i was lucky, because the positions i applied to were NOT new grad positions. they were just regular rn job openings in the hospital. i got a call back after submitting my application after two weeks. i really was not expecting a call back because every other place was sending me rejection letters.

PIH was my first and only interview. i received an offer as a new grad rn in their transitional care unit. i will be part of their residency training program. although the TCU was not my unit of choice (i am set on ICU), i am using this as a stepping stone and my foot in the door in nursing and i am so excited and grateful for this opportunity.

the interview was really pleasant. i think they must have interviewed at least 5-10 people for 2 openings. the actual interview, however, was LONG. i just remember thinking, wow this is a lot of questions lol. questions were mostly "what would you do if" questions, "describe a time when"... etc etc. pretty standard interview questions.

it is interesting that you have not heard anything back from them. two of my friends who graduated with me have also received call backs for interviews with PIH. i was under the impression they were interviewing everyone, or not very selective, since even I got an interview as a new grad with no experience. my mom also has a friend who's daughter got a new grad job with PIH.

at this point, i don't know what they are looking for when setting up interviews. maybe it's partially luck. all i know is that once you get an interview, you have to wow them. you are competing for a position that two or three others are interviewing for as well.

Thank you for your story. flowerchild89. I realldy don't know what they are lookinf for the candidate. I feel very sad and discouraged. I graduated with ADN in 2009. I could not find a job, I went to back to school to get a BSN. However, I am still unemployeed. I applied hundreds times but never received anything from them. It is sad that my hard working is not paid off at all. I think you can transfer to ICU after 6 months or so. Ask them. I think it is totally possible. Can I ask your email address?

flowerchild89, can I ask what the title of the position you applied for was? it wasn't specifically a "new grad" position? thanks!

Yes what were the positions called?

May I ask what your GPA was and if you're a CA resident? Thanks!

the positions were just regular open positions that said Registered Nurse. I just applied to every position, in every unit, that said Registered Nurse. Their regular new grad positions are titled RN NEW GRAD.

my cumulative undergrad gpa was a 3.8 and i am a CA resident.

i really don't know how they choose who to interview. i know they are only interviewing new grads with BSNs. there are 4 of us who got hired together and we all had BSNs.

like i said, two of my friends from nursing school received call backs. one of them actually interviewed for the position i got, and did not get it. and she got another call back for the march 2012 new grad position recently.
