Presby Dallas ER

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone knew anything about Presby Dallas ER. I am in the process of deciding if I should accept this internship or not. I was wondering if anyone had gone through their internship or have actually worked in their ER. I have been trying to ask around but no one seems to know anything about their ER. I really wanted to work at Baylor Dallas ICU since it is a level one facility and then cross train in the ER because I want to go to CRNA school and I think this facility is great since its a level one but I have not heard anything from them. I have been told to just take a floor job at Baylor or just get any RN job without a contract and reapply since the economy seems to not be allowing the local hospitals to hire many new grads for their internship positions and then reapply when they have their next ICU internship however, I am just afraid that if I don't take the ER position that I may not ever get the opportunity to get into critical care and if I start in an ER then I could possibly transfer to Baylor Dallas after the contract is over. This is all so frustrating and confusing I just don't want to make the wrong decsion and risk not being able to reach my goal of working in a level one facility. I have also been told that I just need to take what I get because the economy is bad and internships are hard to get. Please help me. Any advice is welcomed. I've posted in the ER forum but no one seems to be looking in this forum.

Thanks in advance,

Nola

i dont know about Presby, but i think it is a great idea. but if you can get the ICU job at baylor and cross train in the ER i think it will be beneficial for you. especially for CRNA...but my advise is to take the internship at Presby, then go to baylor. take what you have now. you know what im saying. dont let an opportunity go by because in this economy it might not come up again.

I understand what you are saying however, I just am not sure how strong and beneficial this program will be. Also, the recruiter hinted to me that I should strongly reapply however I would to be in a contract and if selected on my second try I would not want to pay back on my contract if this was a requirement as well as not leaving the facility on bad terms. Can you see where I am coming from? I have also been told by others that some hospitals have internships that start before January and I would not want to miss out on this but this is just hearsay. Again Thank you for responding

This is true, a lot of people in my class haven't gotten jobs yet (about 75%). It's more competitive than ever. I would absolutely take the ER position. It will be much easier to get into ICU after you have worked in the ER since in some places they consider it critical care.

I was told that Presby doesn't have a contract by the way.

Good luck!

I don't know much about them either, but my interview is today. I was agency in dfw but shifts are few and far between with the economy plus finding a job in this economy......you just have to take what you can get. I interviewed w Baylor Er---very extensive interview---4 hrs long! But alas it been 2.5 weeks and haven't heard anything. Their hr is clueless, squinted has to make the decisions then pass along to hr. I just find this very rude! Very slow response time for such a big awesome hospital. It's always been my goal to work there.

Hi Medicjjrn,

Did you follow-up with Baylor since your interview was 2.5 weeks ago? I was just curious, if you really wanna work there, maybe you can call and follow-up on your interview status and see what they say? Just a friendly suggestion! Best of luck on your interview today as well! Keep us posted on how it goes! :)
