Prereqs - Is A&P That Difficult?

Published

Hi all,

I have 4 prereqs to go. A&P 1 and 2, Microbiology and Intro to Biochemistry. I'm thinking of taking Intro to Biochemistry and Microbiology together (during the Summer) and taking A&P 1 & 2 one at a time (next Fall and Spring) because I've read that A&P should not be taken with any other class. This plan will take an extra semester to finish. Can someone let me know if this schedule makes any sense? I work full time if this makes any difference. I guess my definitive question is: Is A&P that difficult that I should take it by itself?

Thank you!

define "difficult"

I also think it depends on what school you take it at, what professor you have, and if it is one semester- or if it's split up to two. Also depends on how hard you work :)

My point is... It really just depends!

I do think it's a good idea to take A&P last, but would not suggest you double up with Micro and Biochem in summer. The summer courses are already smooshed into a few weeks. (UNLESS you can take Biochem in first summer session and Micro in the second summer session) Maybe take Biochem in summer, micro in fall, A&P 1 in spring and A&P2 in early summer.

Thank you both for responding. All I have left are science classes. My advisor suggested that taking too many sciences at once can be overwhelming, especially if taken with A&P. Having to work full time doesn't help.

Listen to your advisor. He/she is familiar with the program already and knows the difficulty level and time commitment required for these classes. In my opinion, if at all possible A & P should be a standalone class for most students simply because it is such a foundation class for upcoming classes that having a solid grasp on it will make everything that comes after that much easier.
