I have a major issue ! I start Nursing school in the summer 2016 for an accelerated ABSN+MSN program. I am currently a undergad student and I need to take A& P II in order to start my program in the summer but my school doesnt offer. And on top of that they have this absurd rule, that you are not allowed to register to any other college while concurrently being registered to their college. Any one have any ideas on what I should do ? I've talked to my dean and have to write a petition to take classes at another college and Im waiting on a decision but I need a back up plan. Any one know if any Winter session colleges in the Miami area ?

How does a school that has a Nursing School not offer A & P II?

Sounds fishy to me. Is this school accredited?

I think they are attending a different school for their absn than their undergrad. I am assuming their undergrad does not offer a&p.
That is an odd policy that you cannot take other classes at the same time. When does the program start? I know some schools offer 5 week summer session so maybe you could do it then? Also how will your current school know if you take a class elsewhere? Hopefully they approve your petition. If worst comes to worst, you may have to defer nursing till spring. Best of luck!!

I also am wondering is this school accredited? I've never heard of this rule with any normal college. Is it just that this school does not accept credits from other schools? That's another red flag. What is another red flag for me anyway is that this program is an accelerated bsn+msn. Is this to become an NP?
I do not agree that you can master any subject until you have practiced. And accelerated? No. No. No. No reputable hospital or doctor's office is going to hire you with that kind of degree and no experience. What is your major now?
People come in here all the time upset because they now have their masters and nobody will hire them. They can't get hired at bedside, because they have a masters, but nobody will hire them in masters positions because they have no experience.
Honestly, this is a blessing. I would find another school and another way. Get your bsn first and go from there.
I apologize in advance for the long reply. Ok let me clarify. I currently attend an liberal arts college and I am majoring in Public Health and I was accepted into a ABSN+MSN program from a really good school. The program starts literally the week I graduate so there is no in between time. I havent fully decided if that is where I would like to go but it is something I am seriously considering. Both schools are accredited. My current school does not have a nursing program and this weird rule is really throwing a curve ball in my plans.
I have thought about how receiving a MSN with no experience can affect my career. Its not a make it or break it for me yet because I would like to talk to other Alumni of the program to see how it affected them. Im applying to other non-nursing masters program currently as well. But I want to take this class so that I have options and my only option , if my school denys my petition, is to take it in a winter session but Im from South Florida and we dont really have "winter" sessions. Also I dont know how my school would know , the only reason they know now is because my advisor asked me to notify the registrar so that my class could transfer over now its this BIG mess. Honestly I might register for it through a community college anyway... what the worst that can happen ???

Did you know the all the admission requirements in advance? If so, the SNAFU is on you. Attempting to circumvent the rules about concurrent enrollments at different schools may come back to bite you if this is perceived as "entitled" behavior (AKA, I don't have to follow rules that are inconvenient) by the people making admission decisions. THAT is the worst that could happen.
BTW, geographic location has no bearing on the name of an academic session... "winter" is based on the time of year, not the climate.

I suspect the rule that you can't take courses at another school means those courses' credits won't count at the first school. What matters is if the school where you want to go, later, will accept the credits or not...

My undergraduate college had a really weird rule about not accepting community college credits if you were already enrolled as a student at the school (i.e. take a course or two at a local community college between freshman and sophmore year, etc.) Weirdest rule I had ever seen, as other 4-year institutions were fine, and they took community college credits for transfer students...
The whole point was that they couldn't tell you could could not take the class, just that they wouldn't accept it.
lol i didn't expect it to have anything to do with weather. They just dont have a "winter" session. And you're right it is very inconvenient and yes I knew the admissions requirements and I expected my school to allow me to take a class that they don't offer , elsewhere. But I guess I shouldn't put my faith in the education system.
I appreciate your perspective though

Im not sure if thats the case. If it is that would be perfect . I dont care about the credits. I have way more than enough to graduate.
