Hello all!!! I new to all nurses; and, I am in my finally semester of pre-req.. The problem is my ACT scores... How did you guys prepare for it and how did you do on it? I'm really afraid to take it again. My last score was 16 and I'm afraid of being let down. The ACT score would be the only thing holding me back being that I have a great GPA (3.0) in my classes.. Please give me some insight! Thank you

I've never heard of a school looking at ACT scores before for nursing school admission. But, look up AP or Kaplan books to study for it and try your best! Good luck!

I agree with PP. The ACT is what you use for general admission to college. Pretty much high school seniors take it, not adults. Check with your school there are several different entrance exams that they use. Also I would check and see what a competitive GPA is. A 3.0 usually does not get you in.

Along the lines of what PPs have said, ACT may not be required for nursing school. And a 3.0 GPA is not considered a great GPA, just to let you know. A lot of people apply with 4.0s, but there are other factors that are considered for nursing school. You should look into more detail the schools that you're interested in, and see what their requirements are.
The requirements are you have at least an 18 for admission into ADN 21 for BSN and 16 for LPN and the GPA they require is 2.5 or better; on the teas test you must score 57% or higher...
Here in Mississippi they do look at ACT scores.. Your GPA must be 2.5; but, I know people who skated through with 2.0 and got in because they scored high on the ACT over 21... It states on the application that your packet will NOT be reviewed until you have the required ACT score...
