Nursing Students Western Governors

Hello Everyone! Is anyone in the process or thinking about doing the prelicensure program in Florida??? I've many other people commenting other states but I have rarely seen anyone from Florida. I know the program is recently starting up and not as competitive as the other states. But hopefully theirs more people in Florida thinking about doing this school also!

Hi Chiro54, I haven't heard anything yet. I think they are finalizing the candidates so I should hopefully hear something next month. From my research, it seems like a very good program so I hope I get in. I will keep you posted as soon as I received any updates.

Thanks for the update! I wish you all the luck.

Hi Chiro54 I found out that I got accepted and will be starting on May 1st

Congrats! I know you are stoked. Did they move the cohort up 1 month?

Thank you so much. Yes they did. I'm nervous and excited at the same time. I was looking into this program for over a year and I had to retake anatomy for a higher grade so it's been a long process for me. It was suppose to start June 1st but I am glad I will get started earlier than expected.

Hi shlbz. I was looking to start and saw that you are currently in the Daytona cohort. I live in Orlando so it won't be that terrible of a commute, but have you started your clinicals yet? If so, how are those scheduled? I currently work full time 9-6 M-F and was wondering if the clinicals were doable. I'm trying to see if this is a good option. I'm currently enrolled with Excelsior and well, I failed the CPNE and am seriously rethinking my options since the wait time is now at least 12 months. At least with WGU once I finish it will be with a BSN. Also, were you an LPN before you started?

Hi clbaldwin, I started clinicals in my 2nd term. Clinicals are doable if your employer is flexible with the schedule. You may have days or nights during the week or weekends, it all depends on the schedule provided. I was not an LPN,I have a BS in Health Science but not nursing. This program is challenging but nursing school is not easy regardless of where you attend.
