I just found out I am 4 weeks pregnant. I start school around the 8 week mark. I am taking A & P this semester and I am pretty worried about it. I am only taking A & P and one other class which is online so that it won't be too stressful. However, I am 35 yrs old and already at a high risk. Should I attempt the classes or drop them?

I don't know how stressed out you get, but I feel if you have enough time to put towards your classes, then it will reduce your stress level and you'll be fine. If you have a busy schedule and can't focus on school, then maybe taking these classes at a different point of your life will be better.
I don't know you, so I can't give you correct advice. So, if you feel that taking classes will hurt you or your baby, then it's obviously better to not take them.

Can I ask why you are high risk? I think you will probably be fine with both classes but obviously you know yourself best. I think it would be nice to have something to keep you busy whilst you wait out those early weeks waiting for the baby to start moving and to start showing etc. (I always find the early weeks drag on the longest :) ). A&P is very doable as long as you give yourself time to learn it all.

What other class are you taking with A and P? Maybe just take A and P by itself? I finished my AA degree over the course of having two children the only classes I struggled with pregnancy brain were computer information systems and a science class about climatology. Now I have two little ones and I'm going on to nursing. You can do anything you set your mind to darling! I only ever took about one class at a time though but I also worked through everything so it just varies person to person but to drop everything and give up because you are pregnant? No I think you will regret that and end up right back enrolled with a newborn good luck!

I"m assuming your A&P class is one semester in length, 2 days a week for about 5 hours each day??? This is how my science classes were set up.
You can do it. But just a bit of a warning so you're prepared: classes such as Anatomy, Physiology, Chemistry and Microbiology you really have to attend every class because any day you miss can really throw you off. With that said, if for some reason you find you have to be on bed rest and cannot get it done, then just drop. I don't think any future schools will hold it against you since you can say (and probably have documentation - the baby) that you had to drop due to pregnancy.
The only other thing is in some Anatomy/Physiology classes they do use cadavers (humans or cats) in class which are preserved w/ chemicals. My teacher didn't care what your excuse was - if you didn't go in for the cadaver she would mark points down. Period. If I were you, I would email or talk to your future instructor and ask him/her if this is going to be an issue. Trust me, you want to rack up as many points you can in any science class because you need them come grade time!
