Check into your local community college for these classes; a number of them can be taken online through them. Beware of the "online only" private institutions as these will cost you much more and might not transfer.
Academically, take algebra first (you might need a couple courses here). If you are not good at math, I would not take this online - this will provide the base you need for a number of other courses. I used to tutor math, chemisty and physics. The main problem people experienced with chemistry was not understanding how to use algebra. Once you finish the math, take chem. Once you pass chemistry, then take the college level biology. I would not worry about high school biology.

If u havent taken the sciences or math in a long time, or never had, do not waste ur money taking them online, go to a community College where u can get assistance, especially with Chemistry. It will be cheaper and you will be more confident.
Dont worry much about it though, just apply ur self. I didnt take Chem. since grade 8 in High school and I passed Chem 2 with an A, b/c I was determined to do it.
Good luck

I am curious as to why you don't take them at a traditional classroom setting?
Anyhow, check with your local community college. For the most part you BSN programs are more liable to offer couses online versus ADN. At least in my area and state it is that way. However, you still neet to visit the campus to do the "hands on" and lab portion of the courses. Maybe different in your neck of the woods though. Do some reasearch.
Good luck :)

Since I have three small children at home, I'm doing my prerequisites online with Edukan (http://www.edukan.org). They are a group of community colleges in Kansas. I'm taking A&P 1 right now and I like the course content and setup very much.
I've also taken courses with ccconline, (http://www.ccconline.org). I took Intro to Chemistry with lab for 5 credits. They also have a great nursing Pharmacology Calculations course for 1 credit (I figured it would look good on my application to nursing school). However, I switched to Edukan recently because ccconline increased their tuition. I can get almost two 4 credit courses at Edukan compared to one at ccconline.
If you need any more assistance, just PM me and I'd be glad to help.
Take Care!

I have taken all my prereqs online through Rio Salado Community College in Arizona. You do not need to live in AZ though. I really like the school. I have two children so it is a lot cheaper than going and having to pay daycare. If you are motivated, you can do an online class just as easy as going to a campus. http://www.rio.maricopa.edu/
Good Luck to you.

I am taking a Bio 101 course at home and it isn't working out very well for a few reasons....1. my professor doesn't like IS students :angryfire
2. My tutor (who is studying to become a bio teacher) says
that this course is more like a 300 level course than a 100
level. :uhoh21:
I have to admit that I have panicked about this class because it is so hard, I wish that someone would have told me not to try to take it at home. I think I would have been better off going to campus. Our problem is that we only have one car. I am taking Chem next semester but I plan to go on campus...my husband and I are just going to have to make it work somehow. The stress of doing this at home isn't worth it. But I also think that it depends who your professor is...try to talk to students who have had them before. That will help you make your decision. I am taking other prereqs at home and they have worked out fine. Science is just hard..at least for me. I need to be there in a class room I guess. Good Luck.

I have taken 24 credits online and have had both wonderful instructors and only moderately-ok instructors. (Unfortuantely I was pursuing a different major & so many of them will be for nothing - oops.) They are like any other college classes where you get ouf of them what you put into them. The key is, you MUST be a self-motivator. If you need someone to tell you to be to class every day and need a group of people to keep you going, then you shouldn't do it. However, if you can make yourself responsible for all the reading/homework/test taking, then you can do it and, if you are at all competent with a computer, I think it makes life MUCH easier!
As far as math, I am horrible at it myself, but I took Algebra and Advanced Algebra online and got an A- and an A respectively. If you have trouble with something, just be sure to ask lots of questions and review the material even when the instructor doesn't tell you to.
I will be taking A&P I and Human Growth & Development online this fall & then plan on taking A&P II and Micro. online in the spring of '06 through my local Community College. Check with yours - chances are they offer many classes online - some completely online & some coursework online with labs on campus. Mine are 100% online, but it's good to know your options.
Realize that with any college class, if you get stuck with a horrible instructor, you will have to muddle through yourself - it is no fun, but it can be done - this pertains to both campus and online learning.
Good luck!

I have taken about half of my classes online and it has worked out well. Check with your local community college or you can take them out of state if you want to pay the extra fees. I take them at FCCJ.edu in florida. you definately have to be self motivated in online classes but it saves alot of driving time (and your tests are all open book, my favorite!). I would definately wait to take chemistry until after algebra, there is alot of math. Also check out who your teachers will be and what others say about them, the teacher makes all the difference. check out ratemyprofessor.com before you take any class, believe me you will thank yourself!

Hey Jessica, which classes did you take online? One of my friends is in the RN program, but she took all her classes on campus, so she doesn't have a lot of info. to give me about online classes? I am taking A&P I and Human Growth & Development this fall - I was debating on adding in Micro, but I have heard both yes and no on that. What do you think - being someone who has been there? I have taken lots of online classes, but no sciences yet - they have all been "book" only classes so far. I could add Micro in or leave it for Spring when I will be taking A&P II and possibly Med. Term. Thanks!!!
I took human growth and development, Eng comp II, psychology, sociology, both humanities, anthropology, US history and statistics online. They were all great except for statistics, I would not recomend taking that or any other math/science class online unless you are already familiar with it or good at the subject. I got a B in statistics but barely, and people I know who took it in class said it was not bad. I also tried to take Chemistry online and go to the school for the labs but it was to much for me, I dropped it half way through and have signed up again for a fall class on campus. I still have chemistry and microbiology left and one spanish class and hope to start BSN in May 2006. Alot of people have said Micro is not bad though, they dont offer it online here or i would take that online. Good Luck!!
Ok - thanks, that's good to know. :)
