When you come to the US and settle down, you will have to take college chem and statistics not high school. Depending on where you live, most cities have several colleges and or universities that you can take classes at. If you move to a town, you may have a more limited choice.

also you have to ask your school to send official transcript to the university/college where you are planning to take chemistries and stat. You have to plan ahead sometimes because sending official transcript is a LOT of headache. Email the admissions office of the university that you are planning to attend for your undergraduate sciences and ask them what you need to do..

Hi i will be a uk Trained nurse shortly, ive emailed 15 different university directors who said they would be happy to consider my application to do the crna, i would just like to know when i do finally immigrate to usa i will have to do some courses in chemistry and statistics, where did you do that, at high school?..does anyone know of any colleges i can do that at?? hi, just making sure it's clear that the chem and stat are at university level, not high school or "college" (my friends from the uk went to a "college" but it was actually pre-uni level).

do the programmes also require X-number of years of specific working experience?

are they making you take the GRE?

i only ask because i know of an accountant who was inaccurately told that she would be qualified for the MSN programme just by taking the GRE.

for the crna you need one years american critical care experience, so i would need to take a university course for this??, do you know any universitys that do this, i dont have to do a whole new degree do i??

no...one of the requirements for CRNA is one year US ICU HOSPITAL experience--it varies in each school/universities some requires you to have 2 years experience; another requirements are updated sciences which are your chemistries--again it varies in each school; that's why it is important for you to check the school/universities that you are interested in; check the website aana.com for lists of accredited schools of each states. Check the websites of each school under CRNA admission guidelines to help you out.

also you might want to send your transcripts to be evaluated if your BSN that you acquired from your home country is equivalent to the US BSN program because this is also one of the requirements to CRNA and probably check under international student admission guidelines as well of the school you are interested in...hope this help

I would bet just about ANY college or university in the U.S. would offer these courses.

most of the universities here in US offer college level chemistries and stats....I can't be specific on what colleges because I don't know what state you are going and anyway there's a lot of 'em. As I said, check the aana.com website, there's list of schools to go over and start from there. Or google the state you want to go and add on list of US universities/colleges..

and also nursemonique the reason I was suggesting that you might want to consider sending your transcripts to the school you are interested in to be evaluated is because I have friends from other countries, not necessarily in UK, after evaluating their transcripts they came to find out that the BSN they acquired from their home country is not equivalent to the US BSN. They have to repeat their degree here in US...now if after all the evaluations are done to your transcript and is equivalent to US BSN if you are a recent graduate you don't have to necessarily repeat your sciences and stat, unless you have a low GPA or other circumstances e.g. high GPA but low grades in chem, A&P, or whatever...that's why it is important to call the admissions what you need to do and go from there. Each universities varies, from prerequisites (sciences, to physics, stat, research, etc..) to GRE score (combined verbal and quant of 800 to 1000 with essay score of 3.5 to 4., recent science versus old sciences, GPA of 2.75 to 3.0 minimum....and the only way to know all of these is to contact the graduate admission office of the school you are interested in..

Just work hard on your credentials so that when WES or NACE evaluates your transcripts it will be above 3.0 GPA, who knows your sciences may be good too...

I know it takes a lot of hard work and determination for foreign nursing graduates to come and work here in the US leaving all family and friends behind, from having a "culture shock" to balancing work and your sanity at the same time...! I hope everything works out well with you, goodluck!
