I have till the 20th of Feb to drop a class without a W everyone is suggesting I wait on Physio and focus on an A or B in anatomy what do y'all think I have a 3.6 GPA but I have a hard time with sciences and I have anxiety issues, please honestly tell me your experiences and or advice thank you so much I don't know what to do... Or maybe take anatomy again in summer and physio a full semester Aghhhhh! Idk 😫

I am having to do the same thing with anatomy and physiology. I took it one semester along with a chemistry class and didnt do so well so now I have to retake it. I say that if you have the time to just take anatomy and physiology by itself than do it because it is such a time consuming course that is crucial to the nursing field. I'm retaking it, but this time with no other classes that way I can focus on really knowing the material. Hopefully this helps, but I definitely wish you all the luck an know that no matter what you choose you'll do great :) just know you aren't alone!

Thank you it's nice to know that I'm not alone I wish you all the luck in your AP journey. However my dilemma is that anatomy and physiology are two separate classes so anatomy is 5 credits physiology is 4 credits in the labs are both separate also so they don't combine AP like most schools so I'm wondering if I should keep enrolled in both of them anatomy and physiology which is Monday through Friday or if I should just enrollin one?

That is a huge dilemma because both are going to be equally challenging and 9 credit hours combined to take both is a lot. Do you have other prerequisites that aren't as demanding that you could take one term/semester with anatomy and then take another with the physiology? That way you aren't having to take 2 very demanding classes at once. Also is it just one anatomy class and one physiology class that you have to take or is there a series? Like at my college they have a sequence of 3 anatomy and physiology classes.

It is just one anatomy class and one physiology class. I am done with all other prereqs I just turned in my petition to graduate so these are my last two classes.

My program was impossible to get into without A's in the 3 prereq's Anatomy/physio and micro. If you had a B you would most likely be wait listed so I say focus on 1 at a time if you must because if you don't have the necessary grades you may be waiting an awfully long time. If your school is a lottery school and then the grades not as important when getting in. You also have to remember this is the foundation that your courses are built so understanding the material is key to your future success. Good luck

Yes this is why I am retaking my C in anatomy I keep telling myself that it is review and I could do it... But I am afraid I will only focus on one. In your opinion do you think I should stay in Physiology and retake my C in anatomy in the summer time since I have already taken the class?

Since those are your only two courses left, I would suggest tackling those courses as if they're effectively a single 9 unit course, if not a 12 unit course. That's going to be a LOT of work and I can almost guarantee that you won't study the same systems at the same time in both courses, so there'll be some stress related to having to study one system in one class and study another system in the other. That part of it is not going to make it easy for you. I'm not going to sugar-coat this at all... at times during the semester, it could be downright brutal.

Whats going to save you is reading ahead and staying ahead (about a week) of all your topics that will be covered in class. Them make sure that you're in class every day, as much as possible, anyway. You'll miss out on a LOT of information if you're out sick even for a day. Then be sure to review the material using your class notes so that you have opportunity to really cement that information in your head. On exam days, don't stress and make sure that you take one question at a time as it's own entity unless you have a situation where several questions refer to a single common point.

I'm sure that's all new... but pay great attention to your drop dates. You should know early on if you're able to handle the pace of those two courses together. If you find that you just can't do well in both at the same time, drop one course before the "W" date so that it doesn't show on the transcript and schedule taking the course during a different semester, even if it's done over the summer, if available.

Best of luck to you!

Thank you for all the wonderful advice. My drop date with no W is Feb 22 online which is way before any test we would have. I have to make a decision soon I really would like to achieve A's in both classes. I was thinking of dropping Anatomy and taking it in the summer since I have already taken it and received a C... And sticking with Physiology. I am going to talk to the professor tomorrow and ask him what his insight may be. I cannot retake anymore classes this is my first and only allowed retake. Aghhhh I am so confused :(

How do you feel with how you are understanding the information from the two classes at this time? Even though you haven't had any exams yet, have you had any quizzes in the classes to help determine how well you have been comprehending the information? As was mentioned before it is going to take a lot of work to do well in both classes. If you decide to drop one of the classes also make sure that you have checked into the policy of your school's nursing program guidelines of how they look at a W. At my school a W is considered as an attempt at the class, and you are only allowed two attempts at a class in a five year period. Depending on what your school's policies are this is also going to influence any decisions that you make. My personal opinion is that if you decide to drop one of the classes I would drop the Physiology class and at this time focus on the Anatomy class. Having a strong understanding of the anatomy, helped with understanding the physiology. For me anatomy was geared more towards memorizing, especially on the lab part with some understanding, while with physiology you need to be able to understand more of how things work, simply memorizing the information is going to make it difficult in getting a good grade in the class. What ever decision you make, good luck with your classes and the semester.

Unfortunately there is no quizzes or other assignments other than just the tests, no grading curve either the professor is pretty cut and dry. I guess I shall give it a go and stick it our others are saying the two go hand and hand I just need to be dedicated I know its doable however I do not want to just pass I need to replace my C and get A's or B's preferably A's in both you think that is possible?

What specifically was the most challenging part of anatomy for you? I did pretty well without a background in it... maybe I can offer some study tips?
