I am a pre-nursing student. I have heard about the Nurses Advocate Program, and it is an option for nurses already in the profession. So, If I am in a 12-step alcohol rehab program for six months, can I get into nursing school? I am embarrased about my situation, and I guessed that before becoming licensed I would have to go through a program anyway, because I have misdemeanor alcohol isues in my past. I do not want to ask my nursing school counsellors and advisors what to do, but I just want to do the right thing for myself and for my future hopes of becoming a nurse. Any professional comments welcome. Thanks!

Let me move to the nursing licensure with criminal history forum. You will find supportive people there who have also been in a similar situation.
