USF Upper Division Fall 2011

U.S.A. Florida

I thought we could use a thread for the USF Fall 2011 Upper Division applicants :]

I will be applying for nursing program in the fall. My GPA is 3.70 with having two B's in Microbiology and Chemistry I and overall 115 credit hours. GPA should be hire but I was majoring in Pre-Med and took Organic Chemistry and up to Calcus II. Received B's in all of the classes so that lowered my GPA significantly. My volunteer time in the hospital is miminal so hopefully that doesn't hurt me:( I hope I get in and good luck to everyone else

I was pre-med, too, and those classes brought my GPA down. I have a 3.61 now, but if I do well this semester, it will be about a 3.7. My nursing GPA is higher, which I'm hoping will help!

I'm sure a strong personal statement will make up for anything you're lacking volunteer-wise. Best of luck to you!

Don't worry too much about GPA as long as you are over 3.5. and mostly A's in the prereq's. The essay is very important now because it is where you will separate yourself from the rest of applicants. You have to give the board a sense of why you will be a good nursing student and about your passion for nursing. A lot of people with high GPA's didn't get in.

I am applying for the USF fall 2011 program as well. I just got rejected from the UCF BSN program, and the concurrent SSC/UCF program, so I'm feeling like everything sucks. I have a 3.6 overall gpa, 3.67 prereq gpa, and 84.7 TEAS.

Hi everyone!

I will be applying for fall 2011 as well. My gpa is a 3.79 ( because of courses i took during high school that had nothing to do with nursing or the pre-reqs :smackingf ) all A's in my pre-reqs with 1 B in Gen Chem. I am stressing out soo much right now. Anyone who was accepted last summer have any tips for the resume and personal statement portion? Im working on it right now. Also, does anyone know any nursing schools around USF that I could also apply to as well? I know there is south university but thats so expensive :( and there is HCC but I would be graduating with my associates rather than bachelors. Best of Luck to everyone!

Change of plans... I WON'T be applying for fall... I got a call Thursday evening asking if I was still interested in starting this summer. A last minute spot opened up. I'm completely shocked, since my alternate-then-denial letter made the decision seem final. Very excited, of course :]

Awww, congratulations!! Turns out the concurrent SSC/UCF program here made a mistake with one of my applications and I had to bring it to their attention, so since I was fully qualified to be in it and they messed up, they put me on the wait list. HOPEFULLY I'll get a call from them :/ I'm pretty upset with them though. Still applying to USF as a backup.

That must be SO frustrating! I hope it all works out!

Thanks :) I'm just glad I looked into it before letting it slide. Good luck to you!

Hello everyone! I'm very nervous about getting in. Although I have a 3.875 in my prereqs for nursing, my overall gpa when I went to UF years ago was about a 3.4. Although I have worked in the ER department in a hospital for about 8 months now, I think my GPA is going to hurt me. I'm also looking at UCF / SCC as a backup. After reading everyone's posts, I think I am on the lower end of getting in.

I got accepted for general admission to USF but I am not going to apply to the nursing program now because I got into the UCF/SCC concurrent program from the wait list :) good luck everyone!
