Please, if you can find it in your heart, say a prayer for a friend of mine. He has substance-abuse issues and overdosed over the weekend.. he's in an ICU; he was found in respiratory depression and I believe has acute renal failure.. he's very young, only in his twenties.

Please, say a prayer for him, that he makes it out alive. Poor kid has so much ahead of him. And a prayer for his family, who must be absolutely devastated at this situation.

I will include your friend and you in my prayers.

I do pray for you, I know how you must feel. My best childhood friend passed away last month from something similar. I pray for you, him and all his friends and loved ones during this hard time. God Bless.

I have an update about my friend in the ICU: I visited him yesterday. He's been in a coma since Monday night, but yesterday he opened his eyes part of the way a few times and was moving around, trying to cough his respirator out and grabbing the blankets, so at least we know he's got some brain function. We won't know the extent of brain damage, if any, until he wakes up and has CT scans & MRIs.. but I have good faith that he's going to be okay. He's young, strong and otherwise healthy, and all those are factors that play into a full recovery.

Well, he woke up in the ICU, and was transferred to a rehab facility about 45 minutes from where we live. I'm not allowed to visit him there, as it's family only, but I'm told that he's doing pretty well; having some trouble with speaking/comprehending language and walking but he's making progress. I'm just so grateful he's alive.

Dear Lord,

You know this young lad and his family member so much better than I do. You know his sickness and the burden he carries. You also know his heart. Lord, I ask you to be with him now, working in his life. Let your will be done in his life. If there is a sin that needs to be confessed and forgiven, Lord, please help him to see his need and confess. Lord, I pray for him because your Word says I should pray for his healing. I believe you hear this earnest prayer from my heart and that it is powerful because of your promise. I have faith in you to heal him, but I also trust in the plan you have for his life. Lord, I don't always understand your ways, and why my he has to suffer, but I trust you. I ask that you look with mercy and grace toward him. Nourish his spirit and soul in this time of suffering and comfort him with your presence. Let him know you are there with him through this difficulty. And may you be glorified in his life and also in mine.

Just wanted to let you know I was thinking of you and your friend and hoping he is making progress in rehab to overcome his obstacles. He has a lot to overcome but he is blessed to have a good friend like you in his corner. Please keep us posted. He will remain in our prayers.
