Hi all,
Is there anyone here starting at Prairie View this Spring or currently attending? I got my acceptance letter about 2 weeks ago....I am so excited...and nervous! Can any PV students give advice on what to expect?
Thanks :)
Thank you for the information. I did apply to Prairieview and started the process of doing the NET test, but I came too late on registering for the NET test (it was full). I did apply to TWU as well, but I was ineligible because of not taking one class before applying to the Nursing program.
So I decided that in Fall 2010 I'll take the 2 extra classes that I need for PVU and I might take at least one of the Science courses either Micro or A&P. I feel that my Science GPA isn't high. Do you think that's best? And I'll be applying to PVU and TWU (maybe other schools too) for Spring 2011.
Hi,
I just applied for Fall 2010 semester and i was wondering if anyone else did?
Also what do they mean when they say the program is first come first serve?
I took the NET in Feb 13 and the deadline for the clinical application was March 1st and i turned in my application Feb 19th. Is that late?
knalimol,
I met someone at one of the NET testing dates this spring 2010 and she just got her acceptance letter.
I still didn't get my acceptance letter to PVAMU itself. So I'm worried is my application incomplete?
I have a 3.95 cumulative gpa and a 4.0 science gpa; scored a 93 and 98 on my NET and I haven't heard anything. I'm worried!

i met someone who got their acceptance letter already for the fall 2010 semester. i am still missing micro (which i am taking this spring semester), which may explain why i havne't gotten an admittance letter. ms. anderson sent me this email which explain why inspite of my gpa and net exam why i haven't heard anything yet.
we admit the students who have completed everything first. the second group is the students who will complete everything by the end of spring semester. the third group will be to students who will finish in the summer. if we admit enough during the end of the spring semester, we sometime don't have any more space for the summer students. this would put you on a waitlist.
i took the net on the 13th also and had everything sent it by feb 2nd and still haven't heard anything. good luck to you though hope you get in. i hope i get in too!
Hi mj713
I got my acceptance letter in the mail on the 15th of march and i have till April 5th to accept or decline it.
I have all my science pre-reqs completed but i am still taking Govt 2 and Intro to Philosophy.
My GPA was a 3.3 and my Net scores were 86 on reading and 97 on math so ur stats are clearly more impressive than mine.
I think its because you are still taking a science class.
Hopefully someone will decline their position so you can get in.
Good luck.
How are we suppose to study for the hesi exam? I'm gonna apply to PV and I wanted to kno is it hard getting into the program? I'm takin ap1&2 this summer and micro and stuff next semester will be applying spring 2011.iA. Any suggestions? Is the program really first come first serve??? Thanks for any help!
I took the NET exam which was easier than the Hesi. They just changed it to the Hesi for the spring 2010.
It is first come first serve based on registering for the Hesi so do that on time. Also be sure that you are done with all ur science classes before you apply cuz they give preference to those who are.
Hope this helps.
Well they have only a limited # of spots for the entrance exam and you have to take them at PV so that could be whats considered first come first serve.
You should apply for financial aid and of course if you qualify then you'll get it.
I just got accepted for the Fall semester so i havent official started yet but i will be taking a class this summer and it looks pretty intense. Sorry. Maybe someone on here who's already in the program can help you.
Let me know if you have anymore questions. Good luck.
Thanks alot for ur reply! And good luck to u in the summer!!! Which college are u transfering from? What was ur gpa??? I still haven't taken A&P1&2 so I'm taking that this summer. I didn't wanna take the hesi without taking hose classes:-(( and I called PV and the lady there said that she doesn't kno about the exam dates after the one in may. I'm worried us I don't know if they will have any exam dates before the application deadline(October1) I wanna take it after summer so I have some a&p knwledge. Well anyways thank for ur help. Just wanna kno how many people they take every semester and wanted to kno ur gpa so I could compare with mine. Mine is right know a 3.1 but I still have this semester pending and the summer pending aswell so hopefully it'll go up. Anyways thanks
I graduated from UH but i took my science classes @ HCC.
My Gpa was a 3.3 and i got a 86 on the reading part of the NET and a 97 on the math.
I think there is a study book you can get online to help with the HESI but from what i heard, the science part isnt that much. Maybe you can find a practice test online.
When are u trying to get in?

I think you should be fine if your overall GPA is around a 3.0 to 3.5 (and of course, if you pass the NET exam). I've heard that people have been accepted to the program with an overall GPA of around 3.0, but I also have a friend who had an overall GPA of 3.5 and she ended up being on the waiting list. I made an overall GPA of 3.5 and a science GPA of 3.75. Ms. Anderson, the admissions woman, will emphasize that the admissions process is at a first-come-first-serve basis. I applied ASAP so that's probably why my friend with the same GPA got placed on the waiting list and I didn't (she's currently attending PV with me, though :)).
Also, I HIGHLY recommend that you aim for that A when it comes to your science classes. Not only will it boost your GPA up, but the effort you put into your A&P courses will be crucially beneficial to you once you start taking Pathophysiology at PV. I managed to make A's on A&P I and II, but ended up with a B in Chem and a C in Micro at first because my first Micro professor was horrible. I retook Micro with a different professor and made an A in the end, boosting up my GPA to be competent enough. If you think your GPA is in sufficient standing and that C in whatever science class isn't hurting you too much, then continue on with the admissions process if you already applied. I wish you good luck in your endeavors! Keep me updated!
