Prairie View A&M Prospective Students (Spring 2012)

Published

I am applying to PV for spring 2012. I notice that PV changed their deadline from September 1 to October 1. (I wonder why???) I turn in my transcripts last week. After my transcript was reviewed I was given a pre-nursing database with the following information:

-63 hours completed

-University GPA 3.18 (non-science course)

-Support Area GPA 3.53 (science course)

-Cumulative Department GPA 3.35

-HESI scores: Math 84, Reading 89, A&P 92, Grammer 92, and Critical Thinking 830.

Now, I have to wait patiently for a letter. I heard it takes up to 3-4 months.

If anybody else is applying for PV spring 2012 I would be more than glad to hear from you, and if you want, share your info with us.

(I am also applying at UT-Houston but I feel that my GPA is not high enough for their program.)

Let me know what you think!

I got a low score on my reading but had an overral score of 91 on the Hesi. I seen people with HESI scores of 80s get in.

Oh really Navyvet?!! Lets see.. Opps I got 86 cummulative score but I did vocab which they dont need but I did anyway and got low score , so with the vocab => 78!!!!:((((( omg omg will they calculate vocab part so I wont get in :((!!!I really wanna study nurse, i love to be a nurse huhu, I hope they wont look at the voxab part and recalxulate without vocab part , so I will have total 86 without vocab... I asked Evolve not to send vocab but they couldnt do that ... Huhu, will it affect my app:(( Im beginning nervous and disappointing right now... Sigh:(

Don't worry, I did Vocabulary as well and when they sent me the sheet, they did not count the vocablulary part.So your are good.

Hat do they count for? Math, a&p, grammer amd reading right??

just called CON to ask if they sent out the letters and she said it will be sent out by the end of this week

OMG I'm getting very anxious now :uhoh3: I took my HESI in September and since PV is first come basis, I don't think I'll get in :crying2:

it will be ok :)

I applied on August and took Hesi on Sept too...so scared...lets pray.... Idk if any one got in when they had taken hesi on Sept last year???

I feel better when hearing you said, I hope you 're right , Navyvet :)thanks

Hi I have a question, when you guys say first come first serve, are you saying finish and completed with all your pre-req's before they look at you, or first to turn in all your information for that application period. I am applying for fall 2012 but still have 4 classes left to take and my hesi is not until december, do I bother applying in march? or wait til the spring of 2013. Could someone explain there process to me.

This is also my first time applying for pv-con. I've heard that the selection is based on first come basis meaning the sooner they have your application the better chance you have getting in. I heard that they preferre you to complete all the classes before applying and if u aren't they don't want you to apply completing your science course. Meaning, say u have micro left to finish before u apply, and another person has a history course. They are more likely to choose the student with the history course to complete requirement since people are more likely to fail a science course rather than elective. This is what I've read on other threads, u might want to read over fall 2011 prairie view threads, there's a lot of info.

My advice is apply! You never know and the worst thing they can tell u is no. atleast u wont be asking yourself what if... Go talk to advisor there and tell them your so u can actuallly hear it directlu from them.

I got my acceptance in the mail packet today!!! So excited!!! :)
