Prairie View A&M Prospective Students (Spring 2012)

Published

I am applying to PV for spring 2012. I notice that PV changed their deadline from September 1 to October 1. (I wonder why???) I turn in my transcripts last week. After my transcript was reviewed I was given a pre-nursing database with the following information:

-63 hours completed

-University GPA 3.18 (non-science course)

-Support Area GPA 3.53 (science course)

-Cumulative Department GPA 3.35

-HESI scores: Math 84, Reading 89, A&P 92, Grammer 92, and Critical Thinking 830.

Now, I have to wait patiently for a letter. I heard it takes up to 3-4 months.

If anybody else is applying for PV spring 2012 I would be more than glad to hear from you, and if you want, share your info with us.

(I am also applying at UT-Houston but I feel that my GPA is not high enough for their program.)

Let me know what you think!

I turned in everything day before the deadline

Thank you maxpuppy!

I haven't received anything from PV yet and applied in July....do you guys think that this is a bad sign? I thought that my HESI and GPA were both high enough but maybe not. Congrats to all that have received their acceptance! Do you think that rejection letters are the last to go out and that's why I haven't received one or what? Somebody ease some of my worry :(

pal1285 we are in the same boat! :scrying: I applied in August. From checking previous threads I have notice that acceptance letters are also send in November, we still have hope.

Thank you so much for replying...I'm so worried and can't stop thinking about it. I checked the mail today and it wasn't there :( I guess just keep praying and checking the mail daily!

Are u stilll taking classes right now? I hop you guys receieve your packet. Just fyi, nov 14th is when all the paper work is due like your vaccination, back ground report, cpr.. Etc etc, so try to get those hings completed. Vaccinations needed, your 3 series od hep b, varicella, mmr, tb test, flu shots, mennigoccocal i think thats it so vacination. You also need to get your physical done. If you guys are just waiting, get those things done.. Im gtting my done now and its keeping me pretty busy... Anyways, goodluck to you guys! Hope you hear something soon

I already have all of my shots and my CPR cert done. All I would need to do is the background and drug screening (which from what I understand has to be a school appointed place). Ive had everything completed, just waiting to hear from the school. Waiting, waiting, waiting...

how much for all of ur shots? and where did you get ur shot

hey you got all the shots (dose 1 ) on one day?....when will be for dose 2?

Hi everyone =) I received the acceptance packet in the mail last Saturday and I'm currently working on it. I have a couple questions that yall might be able to help me out.

1. It says "confirmation card" but what is it? I looked through my whole packet and I didn't see anything called confirmation card. What does it look like? They might have forgot to put it in my packet.

2. It doesn't say complete physical exam in the packet but it says that on the pv website. Have you guys got it done? What do they do in a physical exam? I've never done it before?

Thank you!

Some shots are series, they will tell u when to come back. Ex, mmr is two series. I got my mmr 24 oct and hey told me to return 24 Nov. I went to this flinic called riverside clinic on .. Shots are $14 each. Confirmation card is a small cut out card that says check yes or no if you accept. If its not in your packet, email the school. Yes, you need physical exam. Its required in any nursing school and is stated on the acceptance letter and also on the check list to complete for the packet thats due 14 nov. I got my physical exam done at walgreens. Take your sheet for physicalexam and medical history (one page) and the physician will complete and fill it for you. My exam was $60...

Now i have a question. Did the packet come with any information about the health insurance? Which insurance should i look into? My parents doesnt have insurance and i need to get my own. Anyone here getting the insurance from school? If so, which one?

What is I got the MMR vaccine (both doses) as a child does that mean I need to get it again? I just got my tetorifice shot yesterday. Still need Hep B and Varicella.
