This is a good article that describes the differences. I'm currently an RPN, in school for my BScN... There's a pretty big divide where I work between the RPNs and the RNs, which is really unfortunate since nursing is all about teamwork.

The article is good, but it pertains to the US. I don't believe American LPN's are equal to Canada's RPN's. Last time I inquired about possible cross-border jobs, Canadian RPN's had a much wider scope of practice than an LPN.
I believe if you read the whole article ( or perhaps there was a Part 2?) they do discuss the PN vs. RN role in Canada.

What is it exactly you want to know about?
In terms of the program the PN is two years a a college. The RN is a four year university degree.

It has a lot to do with scope of practice, years of education, hourly rate, etc. You can always do the rpn program first if money is tight, and the work while you do a bridging program. There are so many options there. Just google the local university in your province if you intend on doing the degree RN program or college if you want to the rpn program. The college route may also have lots of bridging alternative that can help you plan your education.
