Perhaps you should take a nurse refresher program. I'm not sure that you would qualify for something like this but I know of a lot of internationally trained nurses who have taken this program in Ontario after being out of practice for a couple of years. They had to do clinical rotations and some of them got hired on the floor after the practicuum. really? thanks for the information I really appreciate that. That is really weird that some people from Ontario are saying that. I got really nervous and was even clicking on their names to see where they were from! Did they say when they would be mailing them out exactly?

My assessment took 16 months. This is very frustrating and very bureaucratic in process, but what can we do? I found the college of nurses to be very unsympathetic, but I guess this is their process in dealing with hundreds, maybe thousands, internationally trained applicants. Be patient and it will happen. In the meantime please start studying for your licensing exam to keep you busy!

There will always be changes unfortunately because of those who are rewriting. The CRNE is very tricky from what people have told me which is why I am studying everyday. I just got my eligibility to write and I am very nervous. One of my friends from my country failed 3 times and she cannot write anymore! This is scary but we must all study and will be successful I think

I have heard lots of good things about both courses, so its up to you. Several of my friends have taken them and they have passed but you must make sure you are studying at least 6 hours a day on your own because the CRNE is very tricky I have heard. I just got eligibility to write my CRNE too so this is very exciting, as I also wrote my CPNRE in may but do not have a lot of money right now. If you want a shorter course try primed educators, which I think is a day review which one of my friends said is very good review. You can also buy the CNA prep book at Download/Buy - Télécharger/Acheter - Canadian Registered Nurse Examination Prep Guide, 5th Edition (2010). I am very tight on money at this time, so I have borrowed 2 of the editions from my library which you can also do, because they write the exam so please practice the questions. Please study everyday and you will be victorious! Try also the CNO website, they have lots of things on Canadian nursing which you need to know. God bless us with the CRNE!

I am from Toronto but heard of a pinay nurse in Ottawa who provides with tutoring on james street from her house, but try internet searching her. I tried but did not have much luck. In terms of books I would suggest you brush up on nursing procedures and how they are done here. I used the book Lippincott's Nursing Procedures - Google Books, because I found certain things are done differently. Also brush up on your patho, main canadian drugs classifications, and I think any canadian patho and drug book will do. It is very important to study psychosocial questions and scenarios, which are heavily tested too. Please check the College of Nurses website |(College of Nurses of Ontario) and study all the learning modules and standards there. I found this website to be very helpful. There are so many things to study, but I think learning about "what I should say" and the "best response" was the trickiest for me. Good luck and god bless you

I found this to be the case for my CPNRE as well. I found some questions to be very tricky and was left feeling at times like I didn't know the answer. God bless us all that we pass and yes bell curve too!

Has anyone received their results for May CPNRE yet? I am in Toronto and haven't got my results yet but I checked the facebook group and lots of people are getting their results already. God bless us all in that we pass and are successful so that we can start working and finding jobs!

It has a lot to do with scope of practice, years of education, hourly rate, etc. You can always do the rpn program first if money is tight, and the work while you do a bridging program. There are so many options there. Just google the local university in your province if you intend on doing the degree RN program or college if you want to the rpn program. The college route may also have lots of bridging alternative that can help you plan your education.

I think you are never too old to study. In nursing we are committed to constant and never ending learning. Nursing research is always expanding and growing. Techniques are changes and so are standards of practice in nursing. We are always studying. I think you have the benefit of maturity, which will help you excel provided you are organized and spend the time to study. You will be successful. Good luck and god bless you
