Ok, so i am in the process of applying for a new job, and i was reading one of their manuals and i have to ask, is being treated for depression a job killer? I dont want to not get a job because i suffer from ppd. I am being treated for it, and it has not affected my job performance, but i also have never had a job ask me about it before either. What should i do? I dont want to stop my drug therapy, but i really want this job?
Thank you

What, specifically, did you find in the manual you were reading? What question(s) did the employer ask?
I would rather have a job applicant with any kind of mental illness/mood disorder be getting treatment and have their condition under control.
Seems like they shouldn't even be asking about your health unless they've already made you an offer. Even then, the only consideration should be whether or not your status will interfere with your ability to do your job. Beyond that, it's none of their business.

I don't think they can legally ask you this. Your medical Hx is no of their business.

I'm going to move this to the Nurses with Disabilities forum.
Ok well they had a physician release to work form on there, but somewhere in the paperwork that i signed said that depression can be considered an impairment. But thankyou everyone for your comments. I was offered the job this am.

Congratulations! It has been my experience that they all ask your medical history but as RNwriter added its after an offer. My strategy is to not disclose anything until I have a written offer.
