Potential student

Hi my name is Seth, I'm considering pursuing a bs in nursing and have 0 experience in the field. The reason for this post is I don't know where to start when it comes to schooling. I work full time and have been considering an online course like the one offered at western governors university. I'm a little weary of an online degree though because I don't know if it will be viewed the same as if I went to an actual classroom school. I also don't know how to decide which online schools will be viewed in a better regard to others if it doesn't matter so much. So the main question I have is it better to do classroom vs online for employment outlook with little to no experience in the medical field and if it isn't a big deal which online programs have the best employement outlooks after graduation?

SethH,

I don't think employers concern too much about an online degree versus a classroom degree, but I could be wrong, it's hard to say, certain employers could prefer one over the other, but a degree is a degree, it's all what is best for you? Would you learn better online, or in person with a teacher in front of you? You might have a different way of learning than me, but I would much rather be there in person, I feel I would learn much more that way than online, but, I hope you find what's better for you! Good luck!

Yeah I don't have an issue learning online and it would most likely be the better option with juggling work in the mix,it's just wanting to know that I won't penalized for it when looking for a job and also deciding which online schools have better programs, and reputations in the medical scene in Utah.

Western Governors online nursing program has a good reputation in the salt lake city area. You will be just fine when searching for job if you go with them. I worked with many students in their program and they all found jobs. Intermountain healthcare in particular has a healthy relationship with the university.
