Postive THC random test

Nurses Recovery

Published

So recently at work I was randomly drug tested due to a discrepancy with fentanyl. I want to get ahead of it, I know that I will test positive for THC as I had smoked the weekend prior. I am not a regular drug user, I do not even like to drink the night before work because I don’t sleep well. I have been reading horrific stories about IPN. I can honestly say that nursing is my passion and I absolutely love what I do; currently I’m terrified, stressed, and anxious of what is to come. I have never and would never show up to work under the influence but now because of something I did on my time off there’s a possibility my whole career is at stake. I just bought a house and I don’t care about getting drug tested every day if it came to that but the cost of IPN and the manner in which they conduct their monitoring is scary to say the least. I have yet to receive notice from my job or anything really but I really feel like I need help and advice. Please if anyone has any recommendations or personal experience with this I’d love to hear about it.

thank you in advance

While yes, what we do in our own home, in our off time is our business, until it can be proven that there is a definitive amount of time that can elapse between partaking of such a substance and being able to report to work and not be under the influence, it is best to steer completely clear.
As the rehab industrial complex in conjunction with these Programs are such immense money generators that already ignore evidence based research in favor of shoving 12 step stuff down everyone like gospel truth (or water boarding, it’s debatable)...I don’t see acknowledgment of any notion of possibly ‘safe’ parameters of use of such things. So even if’s legal in a given state, it isn’t if you want to keep practicing as a nurse.

Has anyone worked for the VA hospital and failed a test for cannibis? I had a random test and will be failing. Should I resign before results? What if I say it has to be a mistake? Do they report to BON? I am 6 years from retirement. Suggestions welcome!

You’d be surprised, I tested negative and was tested with 4 days. But if it all comes to worst I would recommend finding a nurse attorney; they specialize in this and can be a great source of info. Don’t try to talk your way out of it just stay quite and request to speak to an attorney. Don’t sign anything with speaking to one first

Hope this help the next obvious thing is don’t smoke anymore, or at-least until this is behind you as one of the things the lawyers/attorneys recommend is doing follow up drug testing with reputable companies to have documented negative results which will only be negative if you stop ASAP I’ve found that with a low cal diet and some cardio it’s been undetectable at 20ng after 3-5 days for me. Buy yourself some test kits to familiarize how long it takes for you thus planning your smokes far enough apart from possible tests

How’d the chips fall? Curious as I tested positive in between two negatives.

Call an attorney, YESTERDAY. DO NOT TALK TO THE BON without one. Do not admit ANYTHING to your employer.

I am sorry you are going through this, and I hope you come out unscathed. Some do! Good luck and keep coming here for support.

Also stay away from forums because if they find out who you are everything you say here is discoverable in a hearing.

All turned out okay for me. It took awhile, but no BON involved. Attorney I spoke with told me not to self-report, so that worked out, too. I like being a nurse, but I don't love it like a passion. At 57, I don't have much passion for much. I really liked the OTC CBD for pain, but that's also a no-no because trace amounts can effect results of my frequent and random tests I now have to go through.

OTC CBD is legal everywhere and unscrupulous sellers will tell you that you won't drop dirty... This was my defense and it worked. No BON involved, two weeks suspension. Looking forward to retirement when I can do whatever I want!

@msrn2020 lawyer details please.

got referred to IPN CM gave me "24hrs" to make a decision to comply or not. didn't know I could hire a lawyer right away. went to evaluator in gainesville, everything negative except alcohol on my hair! not urine or blood. hair! evaluator recommended inpatient treatment. WOW!. gave me choices tampa, gainesville, alabama, VA, or louisiana....

I have the option for 2nd opinion IDK please help all of them are crooks! one of the doctor evaluator even got charged for fraud! all have bad reviews!

Absolutely ridiculous...wonder how much of a kickback those Inpatient programs get from the evaluators?. I am an opioid addict who diverted and I didn’t even get recommended to outpatient!

Funny thing is the agency reported me, not the facility. They were willing to retest me as I told them I would test negative. Guess what, I sure as *** did. Ridiculous, maybe one day it won't be like this. Thanks for your support. I'm hoping for the best as I've got my whole career ahead of me.
