Hello everyone... I'm posting this in hopes to calm myself a little bit.... I interviewed with the va hospital 2 weeks ago today... I've done my follow up emails to both the recruiter and manager and still no concrete word on where I stand... Pleasseee anyone how long did it take for you to hear back after the interview????

I did in fact receive a tentative offer today. Whew!

Hello there!

I have a scheduled phone panel interview for next week... This is my first time interviewing with the VA and I have no idea what to expect. How did it go? What tips or advice can you give?

Thanks!

Look at the problem-based interviewing material on the VA website. Many of the questions I was asked were in this format and preparing ahead of time was very helpful.

I finally received my final offer today!!!! I'm so excited I'll be starting on 11/4. I was kind of surprised to be a nurse 1 level 3 step 6 since I have a BSN and 4 years of experience but I'm happy with the pay rate so it's okay. I wish you all luck. Have patience it took 4 months for me from application to start date.

Hello everyone... I live in Puerto Rico and applied for a RN position in VA on july... called to interview nov. 19... Im a US army national guard veteran (OIF III) with 10 point preference granted, I interviewed w/ 2 supervisiors.. they say I did a good interview, It's been 3 weeks now and not getting any call yet, Im getting desperate :( .. I really hate my current job.. I have been working in a tele floor for two years now and is really exhausting, 12hrs shifts with a patient ratio 10-12:1. After I came back from Iraq, I got care in VA and wanted to work there, so I finish my BSN and now have a good experience as RN. Do you think I should call to know the status or wait 'til january?

This post have help me to be a little more patient .. thanks for your stories!

I can believe that 2 hours after posting here, I got a call with a tentative job offer!!!! they gave me an appointment for the physical and screening!!! its kind of a miracle, lol!! keeping my fingers crossed!!!

Ok, I have a question for you all. I am reading bits and pieces about having to submit your "Dimensions" to Professional Standard. I know about the 4 Dimensions with 9 career paths from the handbook. I am not getting the big picture of exactly you are doing and submitting. Is this some written statement that you have to write addressing these things and have to submit for review? Can someone please clue me in on this? I just got the "you are qualified for the position and have been referred to the hiring agency." If I need to prepare this "Dimensions" document, tell me what it is and what I need to do to accomplish it. And thanks for the PBI website info- looks good. Thanks in advance for our help! I did not have to write anything like this. I asked if something like this would be needed and it was not. This was at the point where all my documents and background checks were completed and ready for submission to the nursing board--not prior to the interview. If you are asked to interview, then the PBI website will be most helpful. Good luck.

Hi everyone!

I just received my tentative offer on Monday and going in for my physical on Friday. I received an email from the nurse recruiter asking me for proof of leadership roles I have taken, nursing award(s) received, or anything showing that I went above and beyond RN role. I have been working in a SNF for a year and that has pretty much been the experience I've had. Has anyone else had to provide this to the Nurse recruiter? I'm just curious because like I said, I don't have much experience and haven't received any awards or such. Wondering if it will hurt my chances of getting an offer. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like you have a offer, I think they want that information to adjust your pay grade upward but not sure. As long as you did not put anything like they want on your application you should be fine.

frustrating.. long process!!
