I thought I would start another thread about Yale GEPN. Would like to hear from anyone and everyone thats applying to the program for the fall of 2008? Its obvious that all of those that applied for the fall of this year have gotten their acceptance letters and congrats to them all, hopefully I will meet them all next year. In the meantime, I would like to hear from those going for the fall of 08. What were your major/degree in undergrad? Where are u now in the application process?

Hope to hear from all...

So Angela said she will email us by next week regarding decision. I just thought I would share it with everybody. Good luck!

Oh geez!

Ok I seriously can't wait to hear something from Yale! Ugh. I hope Monday it is (when they send the emails!)

Yeah...I wouldn't mind hearing my decision tomorrow!!

So do you think we'll hear anything today? I'm freaking out!

OMG - me too! I'm really hoping we'll find out today!!

Hopefully! :) This is what Angela said on the Yale University SON forum page:

Decision letters will be mailed out on Feb 15th. We prefer not to announce decisions until the Financial Aid awards are completed because we have found that knowing you are admitted to Yale isn't necessarily good enough when making decisions between offers. You also need to know the financial aid information.

I understand that you are making very important choices, but as an office policy, I have decided not to give decisions via phone if an applicant calls us. There are two reasons for this. First, you may not be who you say you are. And second, so many of your are applying to the same schools that we would be inundated by decision inquiries between now and Feb 15th. However, the Admissions Office will try to do another "congratulations" email message next week, similar to the "interview" message I sent in mid-December.

Also, I received a question during one of the interview days about decision extensions. YSN does not offer extensions. Decisions and deposits must be postmarked by March 14th.

And this was posted Monday last week (2/4).

Kens, I just now got upset about people from Columbia SON. If you bother to read, here's the link https://allnurses.com/forums/2655680-post187.html

Thanks kevkev for Angela's message! I really, really need to know soon or I'm just totally going to freak out, lol. I mean seriously, the wait is too much! Do you guys have any reason to believe that they'll email us before Friday?

So kev, what's going on with Columbia's financial aid office? I've heard in the past that people have had a bit of trouble with them . . .

Since they emailed us re: interview, I think they will do decision emails as well. I have a good trust at yale thus far they have been so helpful in the whole admissions process.

Yeah I have a problem with Columbia's financial aid people. I have been accepted to their ACNP track. They have promised me scholarships and other financial aids way before I decided to submit my apps. After receiving the decision letter last week, I emailed them wanting to confirm about the financial situation. In the past, ETP students are given $30,000 free money to attend school.

Got the reply today, he said Hi, Sorry we do not offer scholarships. and that's it. I'm soooo mad :angryfire

Well that's really too bad! Unfortunately it seems that Columbia has that sort of reputation. How much does this affect your decision to go there?

Despite their rep, I wish I would have applied there since I know so many people that got accepted! I wish I had at least one acceptance under my belt. I'm really, really hoping for Yale.

For those of you accepted to Columbia and who also applied to Yale, do you know who you will choose if you are accepted to both???

To be frankly honest, I have no intention to go to Columbia. I applied to Columbia as a back up for Yale and UCSF. Yale is still my #1 option, so I'm just hoping for the best this week

You're right, there are waaay too many people get accepted at Columbia that I don't even sense the competition anymore. Look at this website http://www.columbia.edu/cu/opir/abstract/admissions_2005-2007.htm. Under Undergraduate | BS Entry to Practice, you can see how many people they accept each year.

Go figure :)

Wow, they admit around 70% every year - crazy! Well, at least you know that you can go somewhere! I'm really worried. . .

I am waiting on a decision from Yale also, and if I get in I will be going there. Otherwise it'll be between Columbia and UIC. I think my quality of life would be much better in New Haven than it would be in NYC, as well as cheaper. NYC will be fun to live in when I am actually making money...

that being said, I haven't ruled out Columbia! It would be somewhat of an "adventure" to plop myself in the middle of a ridiculously huge city!
