Any UCSF Mepn Applicants?

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Hi everyone--

Has anyone else out there applied to the UCSF MEPN program? They're supposed to send out letters this month (December) for the interview process. Has anyone gotten a letter yet? Will those that aren't asked to the interview process get a rejection letter now?

Crossing my fingers...!

Nothing has been updated on my end yet. It still states all my letters have not been received. HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Has anyone else's online application been updated?

I just checked my online application and it stated that the status of my rec letters were "Not Available."

I'm new to this thread but considering I've been reading for the last couple years and I applied this year, I figured it's time to come out as a fellow applicant.

Mostly I wanted to reassure those of you who are are worried about the page stating that their letters are unavailable. I was also concerned when I checked a few weeks ago. My page had actually changed from saying one of my letters was there to "unavailable". I knew that all my letters had been sent and I had actually emailed UCSF a couple times to check, so I was obviously concerned when the page hadn't been updated. I emailed again to bring this to their attention and was told that a letter that I'd previously been told had been received now actually hadn't been received at all.

I immediately called the writer who mailed another copy that very day and I emailed the admissions office to express my concern. They actually got back to me right away and told me that my application was still considered to be complete but that they couldn't verify that the letter had ever been received. Then a couple of hours later I got another email saying that the letter had been found and had probably been misfiled.

Now that I'm writing all this I realize that my story isn't very reassuring at all, but what I really wanted to say was 1. don't be afraid to email them if you want clarification. You put a lot of time and effort into your application and it's really ok to make sure that everything you intended for them to review is there. And 2. that application page hasn't been updated for a long time so there's probably nothing to worry about! Good Luck everyone.:wink2:

Yeah. After I emailed my question, someone emailed me saying that all my letters were there, but did not bother to update the online application. I can only guess that this system is still new and there are a few glitches to work out. My other guess is they don't have enough wo/man power to update the hundreds of applications.

Nevertheless, I still think it's stressful for us to keep checking and not knowing it's complete/not complete. I just wish the next 10 days would come quickly so I can move on to further plan A or quickly work on plan B.

I know how you feel! I am putting my life on hold just so I can find out if I got into any of these schools! While Yale and UCSF let people know as early as this month, I still have to wait to hear back from two other schools and from what I'm reading that won't be until February! Which means I have to decide if I want to go back to school next semester or take it off in hopes that I got into one of my schools.

I'm on a similar boat. Once I hear, I have to decide if I should continue my classes for next semester or go on vacation somewhere! I will be applying for more schools next year.

Be sure to post when you get a letter so the rest of us know when we will be getting ours (I haven't yet!)

I am new to this post but my application also says "not available" for the letters of rec... anyway it is good to hear that I'm not the only one! I can't stand the wait. Good luck to everyone

Hey kacyh. I think we have all concluded that our applications say the same thing when it comes to the letters. Some people called or emailed the office just to make sure they were in. Welcome and good luck.

Seems like there are a lot of qualified applicants to the MEPN program! I keep flip-flopping about how strong of an applicant i am. I did well academically and have direct patient contact experience, however I'm not a social worker or coming from a previously well established career, which seems to be common amongst the posters here... I feel like my application, overall, really emphasizes who I am as a person in light of my life experiences (family, culture, coming out as a gay man, etc.).

I really can't handle this wait. I get nauseous just thinking about interview notifications. I have no idea how I measure up compared to other applicants!

I applied to the FNP track.

did anyone on this thread apply to the ACHIN specialty? just curious...

I did not. I applied for the oncology program. Did anyone apply for oncology?

Hey Kacyh 20,

I applied for the ACHIN program. It is good to find another ACHINer. I have no idea how competitive it is compared with the other MEPN programs. . .but it sounds so cool.
