Hey, can anyone help me or direct me to where i can find some information about post trial consequences for malpractice cases such as...
-if you have to pay any monetary amount.
-how long can you have your license suspended.
-if you settle out of court, does the case go on your record.
-what may happen in the WORST CASE scenario.
I feel like i know the answers, but i cannot really find any outside information about any of this stuff, perhaps im not looking hard enough.
I've also looked up the BON for my state, and just found a jumbled mess of information.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Pretty sure that per TOS, we cant give out legal advice. Hugs to you, the best person to ask would be the person that represented you in the case. Best of Luck :) Ivanna

You might want to look in the http://www.nso.com website. This malpractice insurance provider posts court case details. You might be able to inquire of someone at the company who would be willing to give you some info. I am certain that they would have knowledge of the consequences of this type of action.
hmm, good idea, i haven't really dug deep into the nso site besides case studies...
Also, this is just research for a project we're presenting on nursing malpractice, cant seem to find specific info anywhere for this last part, haha.
Thanks though, ill be looking into it.

There are attorneys, often nurses, who specialize in representing nurses. Try to find one of those.

You won't get a direct answer to that question because it depends on too many factors. I used a book called I think "Nursing and the Law" and another one called "Nursing Malpractice". You should be able to find lots of reference information on the web about this kind of thing.
