possibility that my dream job might be available

I did my senior preceptorship on an adolescent med-surg floor at my dream hospital and LOVED IT. I currently work in psych at a hospital that was not my dream hospital. I worked in a psych hospital as a tech for my last year of nursing school, which I think helped me get in the door at my current job. I was scanning openings and saw positions in pediatrics at said dream hospital and have just received an e-mail asking me to rank my specialties. I love my job but there's a part of me that would love so badly to get that dream job now instead of waiting a year to switch specialties. I know being offered an interview is not the same as being offered a job and I would have to do some serious soul searching to switch jobs because I know it looks bad switching jobs after only 2 months. I do like my job and wouldn't switch or interview for just any other position right now but my heart lies in two specialties, peds and psych. I wish I could have waited around for the dream job, but I needed a job and didn't think something would open up. Any advice?

Go for the interview. If you get an offer then we can agonize with you over what to do.

Go for it: if you don't try, you'll never know if you'd get it! Also, it's not as though you're automatically committing to the job by going on an interview.

Thanks for all the support guys. I went ahead and sent them my list of specialities I'm interested in and will probably make a call today to see what the next step is. I have a friend that works at said dream hospital and she's soooo in love with it that it's infectious. I can't help but dream, you know?
