Hi there, me and my wife are starting the CVS for NY with CGFN, today we went o my BON, to inform them of our immigration, they told us that they couldn't sign any papers coming from the CFGNS but they could write down a doc in Portuguese attesting our registration status with them and i have to mail it myself.
Will CGFNS accept such document? What should i do?
Thanks
KInd regards

Generally for cvs the paperwork has to come direct from source and more than likely on paperwork supplied by CGFNS

Hi!
I am a Portuguese nurse as well. As you, I also applied for the CVS/NY and had a hard time with the Portuguese BON - Ordem dos Enfermeiros. So what happened was that they refused to sign any document that came from CGFNS.
I am registered at Secção Regional do Centro. So, they addressed my problem to the head office in Lisbon and they wrote a declaration sign by the Bastonária saying that the Ordem doesn´t provide any information about it´s members in documents that it hasn´t produced. They sent that declaration directly to CGFNS. Then, Secção Regional do Centro wrote down a declaration stating that I am a member of the Ordem (in portuguese). They were the ones that sent it to CGFNS. I had to pressure them a lot to have everything done and that included speaking directly with the president of the Secção Regional do Centro. I was bugging him by e-mail and phone. Of course that this process took a long time... In the end CGFNS accepted everything... By the way, you don´t have to translate anything for CVS.
Just keep in mind that CGFNS is not going to accept any document if you send it yourself. They need all of the paperwork coming from the source.
Hope this can help you and good luck with everything.
P.S: My process with the Ordem was done by the old administration. I know they had elections recently and the personnel has changed...

Hi Ines, are you working in NY? Thanks for the answer.
I apply to NY but I have intentions to work in CT. I just have to endorse the license after. I still have to sit for NCLEX, thow.... If you have any questions let me know... After all, I know in 1st hand how hard and stressfull this process can be!!! :S
Ok Ines thanks, we are worried about the visa, does the retrogression apply to us since we have a 'Licenciatura". Thanks
If requiring a immigrant visa and you are the main applicant and need a employer then yes retrogression affects you
Higino, that doesn't apply to me since I am already living and working in the US (not as a nurse).
Do you know anyone that can help me with that? Thanks
No... You can try contact USCIS (immigration) or an immigration lawyer... But I have no idea...

Hi.
I'm a portuguese nurse applying to Florida BON, and in the process of obtaining a CES report from CGFNS.
I contacted the famous "Ordem dos Enfermeiros" (sul) that told me that they won't complete any form from CGFNS, they will only provide a declaration (in portuguese) that they can send themselves to CGFNS saying that I am a member.
I told them that all the documents need to be in english, so they said that they only provide the declaration in portuguese and that I need to translate it and send it myself because they won't do it.
I was expecting to have this problem already according to the previous comments, so I'd like some advice how can I have this situation sorted with the Ordem, please...
