Portage learning Chemistry course

Published

Anyone have any current reviews or advice for Portage learning by Geneva College. I like to take a Chemistry course to transfer to UMASS in Boston.

The school via email did not give me alot info. They told me they have accepted students by Portage but not Chemistry and won't know until they do a transfer evaluation. I don't want to take it and have them not accept the course. Any thing you know or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

I only took A&P 1 through portage and it took me 6 months or so, but I wasn't racing to meet a strict deadline and had other in person classes going on. I actually think the content at Portage is harder, especially for anyone that tries to learn the material and is honest in how they take the test. Tests are almost all short answer/fill in the blank. My in person A&P 2 had multiple choice tests through lockdown brower.

Labs are also harder. 8 lab tests/quizzes after every lab and you need to know intricate details. One of the reasons it took me so long is because open notebook is allowed for the Lab, so you'll want to basically have most of what she says verbatim, along with sketches of anything from the fetal pig or anatomical dummy that you might get quizzed on. It's not as simple as watching the lab and taking the test. It's watching, pausing, taking notes, rewinding a little, or just rewatching the whole thing again. a 30 minute lab might take a few hours, but it guarantees you'll have the material for the test.

I had the same experience. But I also feel like I really learned the material. I'm glad I went through Portage. I'm finishing A&P II and Micro through them now. No cakewalk, that's for sure.
