Thought this would give us all a nice visual once folks place their vote.

Currently, I am in Ortho-Neuro Med Surg.

Also, I have placed a similar poll in our Male Nursing Student Forum. That poll can be viewed here:

Good comparison threads when viewed together.

Specializes in ER/Trauma.
Wow...I created this thread some time ago...a time when I was on board as staff. A lot has happened since then, much that lead to my absence from the board. I have since relocated to another city and will begin a new position...in Neuro nursing....so, my new field of interest will lie in Medical Nursing for now. I also hope to grace the board more and more as time permits.
Wolfie!

So AWESOME to hear from you again! :)

We all have a lot of "catching up" to do :D

cheers,

It is refreshing to see so many male nurses responding. Congratulations to you all. I had dificulty with the whole sexual stereotyping concept when I first started nursing school but have learned that it really doesnt matter. It still pisses me off when I see all nurses referred to as "her" & "She" though. We dont wear starched caps, or stand up when a Dr. enters the room anymore. Times have changed and I think most folks perceptions of what it means to be a nurse should as well.

i work in surgery, have been in surgery as a nurse for 19 years, was a surgical tech before that, so i have total or experience in surgery for about 30 years!!!!!! a lot of bllod under my shoes!!!!!!

psych but hopeing to move to the ER..once I pass my boards..please please let three times be the charm:madface:

Okay, I'm a girl and I'm not supposed to be on this forum, but I'm so excited to find a guy peds nurse!! I think guys make awesome peds nurses, but all the guys in our hospital work ER, OR, SICU, CCU, or CCSD. We are combined with a postpartum unit, so I guess that's why guys shy away. Anyway, it's really refreshing to see a guy that works with the kids. Awesome Dude!! More power to you!!

Specializes in Medical-Oncology.

I had to choose "other" since I work in Medical-Oncology.
