Polk State College Fall 2020 Hopefuls

Published

Hello ? I wanted to start a thread for those applying to the fall 2020 ADN nursing program at Polk State College. I know the application period isnt open until May, but I was wondering if anyone on here was planning to apply and what your points are? Best of luck to everyone!

I was an alternate in Spring, so I attended orientation. They'll tell you when to take the drug test at the meeting. They don't want you to be prepared for it LOL. They also said that you can't have marijuana in your system, even if it's medicinal, because it's still federally not legal. Hope that helps anyone who needed to know it.

LOL okay, thank you. I thought everyone knew you would have to pass a drug test to start the program

Yes, of course. I just figured there might be people unaware that medicinal is not allowed.

Some people, including myself, were probably not aware that medicinal use is not allowed. Thank you for that information ?

Does anybody recommend any CNA programs that are quick?

You don't have to take any classes. Just challenge the test. There are many free resources available. Are you wanting to work as a CNA while you're completing the RN program? Another alternative is getting a job as a tech at Baycare. Baycare doesn't require a CNA license - they train you before you hit the floor.

Patient Care Tech? I think it says you have to complete Nursing Fundamentals first, right?

They provide a few different pathways, but the last requirement says you would need to take their course w/I 90 days if you don't have previous experience.
