Polk State College Fall 2020 Hopefuls

Published

Hello ? I wanted to start a thread for those applying to the fall 2020 ADN nursing program at Polk State College. I know the application period isnt open until May, but I was wondering if anyone on here was planning to apply and what your points are? Best of luck to everyone!

Thanks everyone! I’m sure we will find out on Friday, but what do you think our schedule will be like?

I think in the package it said that lectures were t/r with Tuesday being all day and Thursday being a half day. And then that we have the 8-8.5 hr clinical that can fall on any day and can be either morning or evening.

Does anyone know where we are supposed to complete the drug test?

My packet doesn’t say anything about a drug test? I know we have to have one but mine says nothing. And do we need to show record of this past years flu shot?

I didn't see that information anywhere either. Hopefully we will receive an answer to both questions on Friday.

I'm sure all our questions will be answered Friday.

Unrelated, has anyone here already received a Bachelors degree and have all their non nursing classes met, such as eng 2, Bsc 2, human development?

I have, but I never took Statistics, which is required for the BSN. I'm taking that class now.

I do!

After reading my degree audit I noticed I only have 5 classes left: the 4 nursing classes and Pharm. Very fortunate!

Yes, looks like I have all of core classes left ... excluding HUN1201. I wonder if the program would still take 2 years to complete. And if so, could we possibly graduate with our BSN.

And after you complete the first 2 courses you can request to simultaneously take one BSN course at a time while completing the requirements for the RN program. That's why I decided to take Stats now.

Does anyone know if clinicals start right away?
