Policies and Protocols

I work in a family practice urgent care clinic. There are no policies, procedures or protocols for the clinical staff. There are 3 Dr's ( 2 are owners), and 1NP. I am the only RN. I am thinking of leaving due to this situation as I do not feel it is a safe place to practice. Need advice.

Welcome!

No policies at all? Who is the manager?

I am very curious about this situation too.

We only have an office manager, I have also asked about developing phone triage protocols and policies and I was told no that would just lead to increased litigation, when I asked if what if something came up we were unsure of, I was told just task the provider or trust my gut. I was the ma manager until a year ago before that I was working on back office policies I was able to get 3 done, before we got a new office manager and she eliminated my job saying the ma's did not need a manager that they would come to her for everything. So since then no one really in charge of staff development, or training. By the way our office manager is only in the office 3 days a week as she manages 2 other clinics

Am I correct in understanding that the family practice urgent care clinic you work for is part of a larger medical group?

No it's a private practice

That is pretty typical for private practice.
