PNAP, EAP, diversion

Published

This is all so new to me and I'm kind of freaking out.  I was given a fitness for duty test at work and I know I'm going to fail it.  I admitted to diversion to my unit director.  I've contacted my employer EAP and waiting for a call back from a case manager at PNAP.  I'm terrified of criminal charges.  This is all just recently.  I had a knee surgery 5 years ago and never fully recovered.  I'd been working a lot of hours for financial reasons and things spiraled.  I'm at a loss what to do.

I took a zofran and antacid that were in the pile for destruction/waste.  I admitted to it and am now being investigated. Plus, didn't report a DUI.  Does the board of nursing give one a chance to explain the situation? I was sick and couldn't leave work, because I couldn't find someone to cover for me. We were always told it's patient abandonment if you leave without coverage. Naturally, I was discharged from the position.  I currently have a different job, but don't know what to expect as an outcome.  So far, I've only received a letter stating  I'm under investigation. What is the outcome of your situation?

I think not reporting the DUI will be the much bigger deal but yes, you'll get a chance to explain.
