If you completed your practical nursing in the Philippines, you will NOT be able to work in the U.S. with your education. You will need to be educated at the baccalaureate level (bachelor of science in nursing) in order to legally work over in the U.S. American work visas are not given to foreign LPN graduates, only RNs who have earned a BSN degree.

what about those US immigrants who took their PN in the Philippines, will they be able to get job in the US?

then why is it that practical nurses from Philippines are allowed to take NCLEX-PN examinations? I dou nderstand that if one passes the NCLEX-PN in a certain state,he can apply for work. Before applying for NCLEX-PN the applicant is also required to submit his credentails to the CGFNS/ERES/NACES accredited agencies before the eligibility is given. It also includes the taking of TOFEL/TSE/TWE/IELTS for english proficiency.Kindly enlighten me in this issues because this is what i do understand after reading the NCLEX Candidate Bulletin, visiting the NCSBN web and Naces WEB.

thanks and hope to receive response soon:idea::idea:

Let me restate, because perhaps you did not understand my original post. In order for a foreign nurse to legally be able to work in the United States, (s)he must be educated at the baccalaureate level. In other words, any foreign nurse who wishes to work in the U.S. must be an RN with a minimum of a BSN degree. Even if you have passed the NCLEX-PN, you still will not qualify for a visa to work as a nurse in the U.S. without the RN-BSN qualification. In order to work in another nation as a nurse, you need to meet your own country's requirements as a registered nurse (in the Philippines, it is currently a BSN).

Why don't you decide which state you wish to work in and contact their board of nursing directly. I'm sure they have information for foreign educated nurses available.
