Hi,just got admitted to UT Tyler for PMNHP and apparently we have to take 3 classes every semester as a FT student.I don’t know if there is someone that is currently doing a Masters (FNP) program over there cos I will love to know how many DBs and Papers are requested weekly before committing myself to the FT route.

Not really, worked for about 4months in one of the state hospitals.

I also wanted to ask about Advanced health assessment, I see there’s (Lab 20hrs) can you explain how this is done?

The course has theory and practical. The practical consist of the comprehensive head to toe assessment that you will need to travel to school to perform and the instructors will grade you based on how efficient you are.

Full time students takes 3 classes per semester which is 14weeks while part time takes 2 classes. Some classes require you to score 80 as your aggregate in exams before you can pass. Meaning that even though at the end of the class you score 80( papers+discussion +exams) but your aggregate for the exam is less than 80(4 exams which Carries 60% of the class)you have failed the class.

Thank you for your responses, greatly appreciated. How are these exams? Proctored? Multiple choices? Ease of passing with good study time? Did you have a study group and if yes how easy was it to get fellow peers into a study group? Do you have an email to reach you on? I don’t want to sound like a broken record here LOL…. I was in a program that kicked me out this December after 1 year so I’m very careful to ask a lot of questions now

Yes, the exams are proctored. Blueprints are provided but you still have to do more to pass. Group study definitely helps a lot, you just have to reach out as soon as the class starts

Hi, any advice on how to study for the NURS 5354 pharmacotherapeutics class? Do I need to read the textbook or is the powerpoint enough to do well? Thanks!

The Key Points are usually your best bet when it comes to studying material. Not every module has a PowerPoint and the PPTs are not as comprehensive as the notes you will make from the Key Points. Make a study group and share the work. It's a lot of material. You will also need the full version of Cafer's Psychopharmacology book and not just the free PDFs. The professor gets questions from this book and from Quizlet. Good Luck!

Hi there,

Key Points are like a Blueprint for each exam. It's what the professor calls them. Usually they are at the top of the module page.

Thank you so much
