PLU ELMSN 2016

Published

Greetings!

I recently came across a very helpful thread on allnurses regarding last year's applications to the ELMSN program and thought I would try to get some dialogue going for those applying for the program starting in June 2016.

I took the GRE earlier this week and am wrapping up my applications (PLU, Seattle U, etc) now. I would be happy to answer any questions about my experiences throughout the application process, but mostly I thought this would be a great space to encourage and motivate one another!

I'm a non-traditional student and former finance professional making one of the most exciting transitions into healthcare. I'm also a current PLU student so I'm familiar with the campus, which is beautiful by the way (if some of you aren't and were curious).

If you have questions, ask away. If you have answers, we'd love to hear them. Or, if you just want to pop in and introduce yourself, we'd love that too!

Good luck everyone!

Do you know when they send out early admissions for those who submitted their application by the December 1 date?

May25,

Thank you for sharing your stats and for willing to answer our questions :)

What do you like about the program so far? What was the first summer like?

Is there anything about the program you don't like or wish was different?

Do you know what admissions is mainly looking for in the essay?

Do you know if being/not being a CNA affects chances of getting accepted?

May25, I was wondering when you heard back from PLU about admissions?

ahopefulNP,

Looking at past years' posts, people seemed to get accepted at the end of January (2014 entry) or at the end of February (2015 entry). I believe May25 got accepted right at the end of February. I'm assuming that we'll hear by early March at the latest.

I called admissions this morning and heard that they're starting to go over applications and we should probably hear by early to mid-February. Also there were about 120 applications this cycle which seems like a little more than the last couple years?

Curious, do you recall how many spots there are in this program?

Thanks for posting this helpful info!

The PLU ELMSN site says they accept about 20.

Hopefully we hear back soon because we're getting closer to early February ;)

ignore this post (don't know how to delete it)

^above post is correct though

I submitted my application Dec 1st and today I got an email (I called them back) because the admissions office hadn't given them my transcripts yet for a course I took Fall 2015. The person I spoke with said she was reviewing my application right this second, so hopefully we should find out soon, those of us that applied early!

Did you by chance ask when they would be sending out decisions?

No, i did not, which i really regret! I just freaked out when I got that email fearing my application would be thrown out. I think I'm going to call tomorrow and see what they say

if you end up calling please let us know!
