Where are you currently living? Have you passed your English exams yet? Have you applied for Visa Screen?
Which part of the country are you interested in working in? What specialty? What type of experience do you have? What type of facility are you interested in? Large or small? Teaching or non-teaching?
Please give us alot more information before we can really help.............. :balloons:
I'm live in CHINA. I passed the TOEFL exam in August 2004. I have not begin to apply the vicascreen because a friend tell me that I would waste my money if I apply it before I get the acceptable oral English scores. Should I apply the visacreen now?
I'm interst in any state that easy for me to immigrate. Especially the states are near to Rode Island. I have 4 years experiences in General Surgery. I can email my resume to you if you can help me find the Nurse Company. Thank you!
By the way, if I have visascreen, what kind of company you can offer? It's defferent from non-visascreen?
Visa Screen Certificate is a requirement of any foreign nurse wishing to work in the U.S. You m ust submit an application thru CGFNS for this and pay the fee. You must pass the oral part of the English exams also for this. I would recommend that you get the oral part done as soon as possible as it will be much easier for you to find a position. You are not wasting your money by applying now for it, it will not be granted until you have a successful TSE score. It will just save you time later. It takes about four months after you finish the English exams for you to receive the Certificate. My recommendation would be to take care of it now.
At this point, it doesan't matter who will be faster, as you will need to wait for a visa number to come up. Nothing will be able to be processed without that.
Which city are you currently in? I visited Shanghai several years ago.
What type of surgery is your specialty? Again, what type of area would you like to live in? Large city? Small city? Type of hospital? These are choices that you can and are able to make.
I live in Jingzhou, a small city which is belong to Hubei province.
I have worked in General Surgery Department.
Responsibilities:
Formulate and implement nursing care plans, carry out treatment prescribed for the patients, assist doctors in procedures performing on patients, educate and provide mental support to patients and family members, supervise and guide junior nurses and students, assist in orientation of new staff, collaborate with other health care providers in all phases of patient care.
Equipment Used:
Pulmo-Aide Nebulizer, Water-sealed Pleural Drainage System, continuous and intermittent suction, Thermo syringe pump, Hewlett Packard Defibrillator, ECG machine, Pulse Oxymeter, Air-Viva, Manual Ventilation Bag, Volume Infusion Pump, Dynamap Vital Signs Monitoring System.
I like to work in a middled city in the USA .I like states such as Massachusetts,New Hampshire,Connecticut.
I dont know how to choose the type of hospital. Can you give me some advices?
We have what you would refer to as small community hospitals, which could be anywhere from 50 to 200 beds, then there are what are called tertiary hospitals, the central hospital in an area that may serve several different communties and offer all services. They there are the large facilites, over 300 beds, up to about 1000. Some hospitals are what we call teaching facilites, where they have students in training in all of the different areas, med students, nursing students, pharmacy students, etc. Or non-teaching facilities.
This at least will give you some idea, hope that it helps............

Good location! WELCOME!!
Hi,suzanne4,could you tell me some good Nurse Companies?
You need to answer the questions that I asked you above. Remember, you should be the one able to pick the facility where you wish to work, not the agency.
If you have laready done your exams, and seem to know what to do, why do you need an agency? They are only going to be getting part of your salary for the next few years, and yoiur choices will be limited greatly.
Simple example, there is one agency called OGP that many English nurses signed up with because they were promised positions in Florida. Funny thing is that this company has almost no contracts available in Florida. So promises get made that they can't keep and the nurse has to go someplace else that they really didn't want. If you can do it on your own you are much further ahead.
Actually , I like working in a central hospital.
My friend told me that the USA hospital never hire a foreign nurse directly. If I have the CGFNS CERTIFICATE, I have to contact with agency to begin my immigration and find a job. That's the reason why I keep looking for a angency. but, I dont kown if it's correct?
