Please help me out

Published

Hi, can anyone help me. I'm a BSN graduate in the philippine and a US citizen who wish to take her nclex in Hawaii. However nclex requirement for foreign nurses would take me atleast 2 yrs for school accreditation by CGFNS, so i was planning to go back to school for atleast 1-2 subject to be a US graduate. But is it true that US nursing school won't credit my BSN degree in Philippines because of a difference in education standard/curriculum and so i will be an LPN instead after taking the NCLEX exam? :crying2:

Please help..

I suggest you read threads in, and post your question in, the international forum. There is a ton of discussion there about the process for a foreign grad to get a US license. But from what I gathered from my Filipina friends is that your BSN will be recognized (usually), and you can choose to take either the NCLEX RN or the NCLEX PN, as you desire. For that matter, if you want to start as a CNA, you can do that also. People usually take the NCLEX PN if they have failed the NCLEX RN several times and want to try their hand at the PN exam. There are even some Filipina RNs who never bother again with the US RN exam because they are satisfied with working as LPNs in the US. Basically all up to you which road you take. Good luck.

Wondering where you get your 2 years from. CGFNS CES usually takes 4 months approx and then if your training meets their requirements you get eligibility to sit NCLEX

I don't understand what you mean about 2 years for school accreditation...?? CGFNS do not accredit schools.
