Please Help!! NEW GRAD having trouble finding job in Dallas, TX

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I graduated in December, 2009 and took time off after graduation. I moved to Dallas 2 months ago and have not been able to find a job yet. I've applied online at almost every hospital in Dallas, but all hospitals except 1 have not responded to me.

Baylor was the only hospital that replied to me, and I had 1 interview 4 weeks ago and have not heard back from them. I am willing to work in ANY UNIT, and would even be willing to work out of the hospital settingg, I just need to get experience in ANY WORK PLACE.

Does anyone have any tips or advice for me?? Thank you!!

Try some of the LTAC hospitals such as Kindred, Lifecare, Select, Vibra, and Renaissance. These places have been known to hire new grads onto their units.

Also, try some of the outlying hospitals if you are willing to commute. The career website of Weatherford Regional Hospital states that they'll hire inexperienced new grads. Wise Regional also hires new grads, but you'll have to print the employment application off their career website and either fax or mail it to them.

Of course, many of the nursing homes in the Dallas-Fort Worth area will hire new RNs as long as you have a license and a pulse (a.k.a. the warm body syndrome).

Thank you so much for your help, I will look into all of these places!

sar901,

Methodist Charlton is holding a job fair on Sept 16 from 3-7pm in their lobby. You should check it out! Also, there is a huge job fair at UTA on Monday, Oct 4 from 9-3pm. Look in this Sunday's paper for more info! :)

Best of luck!

September is also internship month for a lot of local hospitals. Search on their sites for internship positions meant specifically for new grads. I know Medical City had some up last week.

or apply to smaller city hospitals, big chances there than to larger cities (houston, dallas, san antonio, austin)..

I work at a "surgical center" but fixin' to turn into "full fledged hospital" soon with an ICU etc...check out Forest Park Medical Center, dallas texas Its mostly bariatric, sleeves, backs, and some plastics...etc...
