One quick tip. Reorder your education so your highest most recent degree comes first. A quick glance at your resume and I thought you were an LPN but when I read your experience I saw you are now an RN.

My resume has been fairly well received. It's in the format of Objectives/Summary, License and Education, Skills and Experience

Specializes in Med Surg, Ortho.

I agree....it's too long. The summary of your qualifications should be much more concise and to the point. The HR person should be able to skim over it quickly and get a quick idea of your experience and qualification levels.

Specializes in LTC, Psych, Hospice.

I agreee with the other posters. Re-order you education and cut back to just a couple of sentences about each job. Jobs should also be in the order of most recent first. Hope this helps!

Specializes in Med/surg, O.R.

I also agree with the others. To long and the order needs to be most recent and so on. Also when you do a resume you want it to stand out right away and be easy to read. If I was an HR director I would give this resume one look and toss it to the side because it is just to much to read. Your resume is the first impression on a employer, you want it to be very well organized.

I concur, too wordy and was also confused on the fact it states LPN but in places you were a Charge RN.

Maybe reduce the number of bullets under each job and make the layout all the same. It'll shorten the length & allow the eye to follow along better (the education is centered but then the experience is all left margin).

Not sure if you did it on purpose for posting, but it's hard to say what you are going for (the position). It might be too generic. I get making a resume you can send out to anyone, but I still always try to tailor it for each job &/or each company.

Just my observation.

Now that I know it is too long, can someone please help me shorten it? What should I leave in and what should I take out?

I do have my most current jobs first.

So, I guess it is too confusing. What to do?

Thank You,

Katria

thank you tothepointelvn... i do not know how to contact you but i appreciate your help.

No problem. The other suggestion I would make is to put your license and certification info in the section where the education is. If it's been more than 20 years since you got your RN I might leave off the LPN education info since it's not really relevant in your career

The summary of quals reads like you are more administrative. I wouldn't lead with that. I would be sure to lead with what the recruiters and our clients are looking for credentials and clinical experience. The medicare rules etc are useful if you want to do medical coding etc.

Best of luck! Of course you could always reach out to a great recruiter. They can help present you in the best way.

Sincerely,

Tracy Webster
