I am applying to nursing school but I do not want to be on a waitlist so I've decided to go to either Xavier or Unitek College both of which are vocational schools. They are accredited by some organizations and offer federal funding but not by the ACEN/NLNAC. My question is, if I get my LVN from one of these schools and want to go on for my RN and BSN, will I have a difficult time getting into non-vocational schools? Like OHSU or Sac State? I am not understanding the difference between a community college and these voc schools, because either way you receive your certificate after passing the NCLEX right? Any iformation would be helpful! Thanks.

more than likely if the school you are entering is not accredited. Check with the programs you are interested in to see if they take credit from where you are considering going.
What sort of credit are they trying to take. I have many units from a community college and UC Davis so those are accredited, and my prereq courses will be from accredited schools. It's just the nursing courses that are not. I'll have my COE from the vocational school though..so does that mean I have to get my RN and BSN from other vocational schools?

I'm in a similar situation. It's my understanding that the "Lvn license" will transfer to bridges, but the "classes" will not.
For example, I took Human development and anatomy at a community college. So when my vocational nursing program provided this class I already had taken it and didnt have to.
But some of my classmates needed to take it at the vocational school.
When/if we all graduate and start taking RN prereqs, my A&P from community college will transfer, but I'm pretty sure the classes people took in the vocational school will not.
LVN to RN Bridge programs require anLVN license. I'm pretty sure that as long as you have a state of CA license, that requirement is met, no matter where you received your education.
Hope this makes sense!
