Please advice, Can't find a job in MD, Got a BSN with 9 years experience out of USA

Fellow nurses, Grateful for any kind of advice to get an RN job in the USA, Maryland. Arrived last year and passed NCLEX this year couple of months ago. I have been unable to satisfy recruiters even though I now work as a tech in a hospital. Are there nurses here who had similar experiences please help in any way. Thank You.

Many areas are currently seeing far more nurses applying for positions than actual open positions to fill. Make sure your resume is polished, join professional organizations for networking opportunities (sometimes it's more who you know than what you know that can help land a job), and broaden your job search- home health, LTC, ambulatory settings. Finding a job in a preferred specialty just isn't realistic for a lot of people- get your foot in the door somewhere even if it's not your first choice and apply for transfers in the future.

This is very surprising! Your tech job spot hasn't offered you an RN position now that you have passed NCLEX? Look in to refresher courses for nurses....how long ago did you receive your BSN? The refresher courses are offered at all Community colleges....

I did tech jobs just to get my feet inside the door but I decided that it's not best for me to work as an RN in the same hospital I was at when I was a tech so I applied to a fellowship program, basically as a GN and that's how I got to where I'm at right now.

Thanks so much for this information Rose Queen. working on networking be 'sometimes it's more who you know than what you know that can help land a job'

I received my BSN in 2005

Thanks @Flamingflower please do you have any link to fellowships for a foreign trained nurse?

The fellowships she is referring to are likely intended for new grad nurses. I don't think some realize this is in the international forum
