Some resources you can use to find schools are the state BON website for a list of approved programs and the ACEN and CCNE accredited programs search to find accredited programs.

Keep in mind that the admission process is very competitive in all major metropolitan areas, including Houston. The best way to improve your chances is to have a very high GPA for your pre-requisites & ace your entrance test.

Best of luck to you.

Make sure that whatever school you end up choosing is BOTH nationally AND regionally accredited. The BON's will let you take NCLEX exam with degree from nationally accredited programs - however you won't be able to transfer your credits to other schools to further your education until that school also gets regionally accredited - at which point you may or may not be grandfathered in if you have already graduated.

The best choice for a nursing program is any reputable one that will grant you admission. You'll probably need to apply to multiple programs rather than place all your eggs into one basket. Good luck to you.
