We just got our survey results today. Weeks late but that isn't the issue. We are disputing one of the findings...does anyone have any experience with IDR. I know we have 10 days to submit all our information, but do we appear before the DPH in person or is it all done on paper? This is Massachusetts.

Not knowing Mass's regs, I would say to call your risk management company they should be able to guide you. I would say that is all paper, esp. for lesser infractions.

In Indiana we have started the process in a paper reply for a dispute and then if I remember correctly we were appointed a "court date" in which we were able to review our dispute orally before the depart. of health. Since your state is different, not sure if this will relate to you. Try calling the depart. of health and asking them directly. Good luck.

Don't know if this will help ... It's dated more than 2 years ago ... Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Circular Letter dated February 3, 2003, Re: Informal Dispute Resolution

Thanks for all the replies. Unfortunately, my corp. has decided against an IDR (Informal Dispute Resolution). I remain clueless as to why they would accept rather than fight a G tag, but they are not obligated to tell me why.
This is how they "help": I wrote most of the plan, my DSN added what she thought was right. One person from corporate came down and changed them and once I had those done, another corp. person came and changed them again! ...why don't they just send a team and do it themselves instead of wasting our time?!?! The good thing is we finished the POC yesterday and now can get back to regular...at least until the DPH comes back for re-survey.

I am an ADON in Mass and we did dispute a few tags last year. You submit your POC and the DNS and Admin. went to a hearing. You hear the DPH reviewing the tag but have no input. The DNS said it was the most unorganized thing she has ever seen. We did beat one tag but one stuck. Good luck to you.
