hello everyone!

i just wanted to share the placentia-linda hospital versant new grad application qualifications, i've seen people asking about it. they just posted this week i believe and the deadline is april 16, 2011. goodluck to all applying :)

qualifications:

important:

all below requirements must be met / attached with your application.

if any of these requirements are not met / attached, your application will not be considered for the program.

  • current ca registered nurse license (prior to june 13th).
  • current bls provider/cpr card through american heart association or american red cross.
  • bsn degree preferred.
  • attach 3 letters of recommendation (2 professional, 1 personal)
  • attach proof of a 3.2 gpa or higher from nursing school.
  • attach 2 essays (1 to 2 pages in length for each essay, 1 inch margins, 12 font, single space)
    • why do you want to be a nurse?
    • why did you choose the department you applied for?

    [*]commitment to 18 week program (no eligibility of vacation during residency).

    [*]demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the unit.

    [*]knowledge of growth and development over the life span.

    [*]must be able to communicate effectively, in english, both verbally and in writing.

Who can I get a personal reference from? What is the difference between a professional and a personal reference?

A professional reference would be from a clinical instructor or manager. A personal reference could be a clinical instructor or professor.

Since I've used a clinical instructor for the two professional references would it be better to use a colleague who I have clinicals with for the personal reference?

I would assume so, but I also think that using a clinical instructor can be used for a personal reference.

I've called the human resources director twice--got her voicemail. I left a message but I'm sure I will not get a call back. I just wish we can get an email letting us know any information.
