Hi there! I too will be starting this fall @ PJC. I am terrified too! I hate reading all the posts in the "Nursing Students" chat because I feel soooo lost about everything. I'm sure we will learn all that stuff...are you doing anything to prepare? For example, studying anything or reading any books?

Hi. I'm also starting in August 2010. I was first horrified about reading all the negative post regarding PJC's RN Program, but then realized maybe they are just bitter bc they didn't do well. I'm keeping a positive attitude. I'm so ready to get started. I'm confident in my study habits and REALLY want this:-) I'm glad to see you guys are excited, too. Have you heard anything about registering for orientation in July? I've checked my pirate email, but haven't gotten anything. As far as studying goes, my brother-in-law gave me a RN clinical calculations book. I've just started reading it. I took A&P about 6 yrs ago, so I'm brushing up on that, too. All in all I'm taking it easy... from what I understand we have MANY nights ahead of us to study:-)

Starting in fall 2010 as well. Bit irked that I didn't wait til spring as the new BSN program starts then, but anything is better than nothing at this point.
Yes, I suppose we'll all be starting at Pensacola State College; actually, I like the sound of that. I spoke to a friend yesterday who is in her second semester and I'm a little less terrified now. She said, yes it's hard but it can be done. As far as preparations, I'm reviewing A&P I and II notes and also trying to brush up on my math skills. I found a book called "Dosage Calculations Made Incredibly Easy" which is bascially Dosing for Dummies". I do agree that we shouldn't try to do too much as we will certainly have our fill come August. Hope to see you all soon!
runnindad.... i considered a bsn program, but decided that getting my adn first, then bridging to my msn later. by getting my adn, i will be able to start working at a hospital and making money soon than getting my bsn. also, there are so many reputable online universities now that have adn to msn programs. if you're working at a hospital they will pay tuition reimbursement... it's a win win situation.
has anyone gotton the email on confirming family for orientation?

Which mail are you specifically referring to? The follow up or the original email that was sent out regarding orientation? I have yet to see a follow-up email discussing more about the Family Day portion of the orientation weekend.
RunninDad.... I was refering to the followup email.
RUnninDad, So I called PJC about the BSN program--and they said it is going to be a bridge Program only. It will be a RN-BSN, So you would have to get your RN first anyways. Interesting huh? Also they said they are admitting between 25-30 students for the first class, so maybe by the time we are ready for the program it will be very establashed! Good Luck
Check your pirate mail today. there has been an update.
hey incredible news! Thank you for doing the digging for me.
