  1. I am a recent graduate (May '12), and was fortunate enough to be hired into a Hospice inpatient unit. I was originally prn, but was offered a full-time nights posistion which I happily accepted, knowing that I am very much a day person. I'm asking for advice on how to transition into nights...ie: any sleep tips, etc. I truly want to be successful and hope that I can learn flip back and forth from work to home life. Thanks all!
  2. Hello Nurse Vicky. Funny you should mention The North Carolina Museum of Art. I missed the Rembrandt collection (my sister attended, said it was fabulous) but was able to make the Monet exhibit a few years ago. My family is in the area; I travel from Pensacola to visit. On a different note, I would like to ask your advice. I'm soon to graduate (May, 2012) with my ADN from Pensacola State College. I am starting my preceptorship with Covenant Hospice, home health and also the Care Center at West Florida Hospital. After that, I strongly desire to move back to my home state (NC). My question is, are there opportunities for out-of-state students? And if so, in which cities? Thanking you in advance for your reply, Melissa
  3. hi all...i am in my fourth semester of this program, and am due to graduate in may. while i do not wish to say anything negative at this very exciting time in both of your lives, know this: the "run around" does not get any better. we've had good semesters and bad...this one has been a real goat-rope, very frustrating. i wish you both the best, just keep your eye on the end result.
  4. here's hoping all of you in north carolina are well and safe after irene's visit. i am currently enrolled in an adn program in pensacola, fl and will hopefully graduate (and pass my nclex ) in may 2012. my question is, are there opportunities there for out-of-state, new grads holding an adn? i grew up in the triangle area and very much want to come home, and would love to be pretty much anywhere back in the tarheel state. thanks in advance for any replies!:heartbeat
  5. another update...have just finished adults i with an "a". am starting adults ii on thursday and i'm hoping to do as well. i hope you are all doing well wherever you are!:redpinkhe
  6. I'm finishing my first year of an ADN program in Florida. These questions must come from an Evolve question bank because I've seen several of them on previous exams here...interesting.
  7. i'm starting my two year program next week and i'll be fifty next april! so no, it's never too late! follow your dreams and go get 'em! :anpom:
  8. i don't know about everyone else, but i'm having a difficult time deciding which schedule might be best...any thoughts out there?
  9. thanks for that info noel, i was curious as to how that would work.
  10. Yes, I suppose we'll all be starting at Pensacola State College; actually, I like the sound of that. I spoke to a friend yesterday who is in her second semester and I'm a little less terrified now. She said, yes it's hard but it can be done. As far as preparations, I'm reviewing A&P I and II notes and also trying to brush up on my math skills. I found a book called "Dosage Calculations Made Incredibly Easy" which is bascially Dosing for Dummies". I do agree that we shouldn't try to do too much as we will certainly have our fill come August. Hope to see you all soon!
  11. I am starting the RN program at Pensacola Junior College in August 2010 and was hoping to find some of you who are doing the same...afterall, there is safety in numbers...:hpygrp:
  12. wow! there's a lot of great information posted here! i applied at jd for this last spring, was not accepted, and was devistated. but i turned my attention back to pjc and found out yesterday that i have been moved from alternate to cohort for august. i am thrilled and terrified at the same time. but, as said here many times, "work hard, work hard." i just need to remember that! thanks to you all for your kind words over the last many months, and best wishes to all.
  13. oh yes, that would be #38 alternate at pjc...
  14. hi everyone!! well, i received my letter that i am #38 alternate for the august 2010 class, so i'm keeping my fingers crossed that i make it in.:bowingpur i dropped off my acceptance letter today and picked up my information packet. i'm starting to work on that tomorrow! presnall, i'm glad you're back in the game and like you always tell us, "...the harder the climb...". we all just have to keep climbing!:stdnrsrck:
  15. thank you for the encouraging words, sniper. i know for sure that i was very disappointed to not get in for january...but as i have been told, "everything happens for a reason". i hope that all of my friends here (presnall, tabacue, et al) continue to push forward, either at jdcc or somewhere else. :loveya:
