I’ve been thinking of moving to Pittsburgh from out of state. I have 3 years acute care experience med surg and onc/BMT. What kind of salaries (yearly/hourly) could I expect? Any info would be very greatly appreciated, thanks

I moved from out of state with 5 years experience and the pay was significantly less. I received around $28/hour. Good luck!
Thanks alwayslearning thats less than I thought

I would check out the VA in Pittsburgh as well as St. Claires. They both seem to pay higher than AHN and UPMC. Good luck!

Check out allegheny health network hospitals (AGH, west penn). esp. if you are a night nurse... I hear they pay a higher differential. UPMC is a well organized machine but the salaries are very poor. UPMC overnight differential is only $1, charge differential is also $1. also you often have to do 50/50 night shift and day shift at UPMC. I like Pittsburgh a lot but I have some regrets choosing to move here from out of state to work at UPMC.

I started out in Pittsburgh in 2015 with my ADN in nursing. I started on the BMT unit and I believe I started out at around $25/hour. This has increased over those years but with experience you hopefully should start higher, maybe around $28-30. Remember the shift differential as well- nights and weekends pay more.

I know this is late, but perhaps this can help anyone. For a time, I worked in NE Ohio close to the Pennsylvania border and PA nurses came across to border due to OH paying better (this was six years ago so maybe times have changed).

Thanks for mentioning this. I am considering moving to OH in another 1.5 years and was debating whether to aim for working across the border in Erie PA or just stick to the NE Ohio or Cleveland areas. Now that I know this, I guess I'll wipe PA off my "possibilities" list. LOL.
